Well, the shortage finally has driven me to try Wolf 9X19 FMJ 115 grain polymer coated, steel cartridge ammo. WOLF Performance Ammunition - WOLF Polyformance
The only place that had any, at a reasonable price was
AMMOMAN.COM d/b/a Discount Distributors
And that only lasted about 9 hours @ $239 per 1000 (free shipping)
I'll let you know how an M&P 9c likes it Sunday. (Have to work Saturday)
i have shot some through my m&p .40 full size no issues yet i ordered 500 rounds the other day but i have been collecting stuff to start loading my own ammo so far i have spent about 400 bucks and have enough stuff to do about 2500 rounds or so. you may want to look at loading your own stuff

I have used Wolf and other Russian ammunition for years; .223, 7.62x39, .380, and 9mm. Never a problem. I just wish they made .44 Special and .44 Russian ammunition.

Walmart still king... just bought 600 rounds Winchester 9mm for 19.99 /100 rounds +tax.

$239/1000 with free shipping is still better than most other ammo sellers.

The issue is being at Wallmart when they have a shipment during the Obamammo depression.

yup its a pain to try to find ammo right now. it sucks i just buy a gun and of course it is in the middle of ammo dry time. you would think they would be producing at a super speed to sell the stuff. but its like the manufactures dont care and are just happy to sell what ever they can. i know if it was my business i would be cracking it out as fast as i could. to keep people buying and happy. but i guess there are other plans stopping that from happening right now.

Hi Guys,

I use Wolf ammo all the time. I assure you the backstop or dirt berm won't be offended by the use of Wolf ammo. As far a practice ammo goes, the price is very good. That said, S&B is usually about $10-$20 more per 1K. That's been very good for me too.

I don't reload (yet) so getting the most for my money, wspecially with ammo prices and availability these days is paramount.

So far, my 3rd and 4th gen Smith autos (9, 40 and 45's) don't care a lick that I'm using Wolf. For that matter, the Glocks, and Sig P250 and P-6(s) I have work perfectly too.

Lastly the 223 has been just fine in my kel-tec su-16's and AR's.

I guess I'm sayin' I'm not an ammo snob. Wolf works fine.

My issue is having to re, re, re, re, load the same 600 W W/B rounds I managed to snag before the brass 9X19 drought began!
What a PITA!
So, as you can probably tell, W/coast discount sources are dry of 9X19, and .45ACP. And I don't expect that to change suddenly, here anyway?
I shouldn't b***h I guess? At least I had 10K small primers on hand.

dont forget .40 i only see it every once in a while if i am lucky. and when i do i buy it up quick cause there is normally people looking for it. oh well maybe the ammo will start flowing soon

OK, Gun: M&P9c (3 1/2" barrel)
Did 200 rounds of the Wolf Poly 9X19 FMJ 115 grain today. The polymer coating had no stickiness, no uncoated rounds encountered. The FMJ's were bright and polished, primers sealed. Wolf uses an inexpensive but quite effective plastic insert in their box to locate and retain the rounds. Unlike some of our stuff, you could actually close the box flap again after use.
I wanted to get a first impression for "dirt", so during the first 50 I pulled the slide every 15 rounds-the ammo runs a bit cleaner in the breech face area than W W/B. A bit dirtier in the barrel/muzzle area. After some casual accuracy testing (it did 1 1/2" easily @ 15 yards), I decided to see if I could get the gun to choke by running the stuff as it grew more soiled and hot. To add to it's burden, I interspersed Wolf 115 FMJ's, W W/B 115 FMJ's, some 125 grain LRN reloads, and last some 124 grain GDHP Speer (#23618) that had been riding in it as it's carry load for 2 1/2 months. One or two of each, followed by 2 or 3 Wolf. I now began shooting fast enough to get the gun good and hot, and also began swapping out the compact 12 (+1) mag's with the 17 (+1) full size M&P mag's. As has been this guns M.O. from round #1, I have yet to see anything FTF or FTE. These 200+ were no different. The only anomaly encountered, was one of the 17 round sticks causing a self drop of the slide off of the stop and fully into battery when installed.
Wolf polymer-Higher level of flash than W W/B (not by much)
Accurate enough to challenge my abilities.
Muzzle soot, guide rod soot, fine grey (dry wipe) powder @ breech face.

As mentioned above, a bit dirtier than W W/B. I can't compare Wolf's new polymer to their old varnished stuff, never having run any of it till now?

Strange discovery-Even though Speer's GDHP #23618 is NOT their so called "short barrel" version, it exhibited ZERO flash out of the 3 1/2" barrel. This gun is so much better a shooter than I am it's impossible for me to tell if the Speer stuff is any more accurate than the ball?
No unusual wear in chamber, breech face and extractor area's was seen.

Conclusion. At the right price if I didn't reload and had no intention of ever doing so, I'd buy this stuff again.

I've run a ton of Wolf steel case .40 through my Hi-Power with no problems. May leave the gun slightly dirtier than other ammo, but I can deal with that. No issues other than that though.

For 9mm, my range has a steady supply of PMC at about $13 for 50, so I plink with that.
