We look down on Southerners and Southerners look up to us Northerners.

JUST POKEN & JOKEN!!:D

You know, North is up and South is down?:)

All said and done though, it is a LOT easier to survive off the land in the NW then anywhere on earth. A good arm and a rock will put food on the table. Or a walk on the beach. We don't have a flag, other then the USA flag and don't need one to prove we have heritage and are meaningful to mankind.

We all will soon be required to fly the OB flag, the flag of CHANGE. and be forced to burn ours. He hates our flag, why else would the first president of the USA would take the USA flag off Air Force One and replace it with his own? Just a simple question, expect a simple answer from some of his followers on this site.

My family has just as much heritage as any other family on Gods Green Earth. Like Minded Folks like us on this forum best stick together, there is one big huge government that wants to divide and conquer us.

Half my family is from the south, the other half from Scotland, the other half Cherokee, the other half German, the other half..... well, I'm half something. OK, I'm a white American. Not a Scotland American, not a Cherokee American, not a German American. Just a plain old
American. Some need to say otherwise. Right on Mr. Caj Lawyer. Mr. Lee let ya off on that one!

Not proofed read this post, my guess is that I will get booted off. Hope not but you never know. OB wants to start a civil war, just my OP. He first has to take away our defensive arms though. I have a hunch he is in deep trouble with other things and has to change his priorities and leave us law abiding folks alone. Hope so.

Joe

Joe, I don't mind looking up at ya at all. I'd be proud to shake your hand and have a drink with you. Northerners, Southerners, & Westerners...........we're all in the coming "mess" together and bottom line we are all Americans.

Being from Washington myself, I have to agree with you on the splendors this area has to offer. Seafood, fish both fresh and saltwater, and game. Damn nice!

Joe, I'm no O fan but that's untrue...he took the flag off his campaign jet and replaced it with his logo...

About half of my family fought for the misguided North. The other half fought for the South. The Northern half had more casualties for some reason. It wasn't about slavery. It was about elitism, just as it is now. We still got all those 2nd place trophies (Confederate monuments) in the town squares though.

Northern born and bred myself, my ancestors wore the Blue. One reason why the South retains its memories is the lack of immigration. A few years ago I attended a party, the subject of the Civil War came up. Out of 30 people present I was one of three who had ancestors who fought in it. I have seen a few Civil War monuments here in New Jersey. One thing I like about the South is that they seem to be more adamant about 2A rights.

History is good. Family history and pride is better. Knowing who you are and where and why you came from is a blessing for anyone.

I don't get regionalism. Wherever you go, there you are...which ought to have diddly to do with where you happen to live. I was born in W. PA and have lived here most all of my adult life. My family lived here for three generations before I came along. Even so, I don't attribute anything of what I am to living in Pittsburgh, or the North, or any of the particular places I have been. My attitudes and beliefs are particularly American, but not exclusive to PA or any other area within the U.S.

Regionalism of any kind has always puzzled me a bit. I spent some time in the south when I was in the service, and I met some of the finest people in the world there. Never did understand the North/South pride thing, though. That's probably just me - I've always had a problem with group stuff anyway.

Washington? Washington...

Oh - you people way out there.

Aren't you part of Canada or something?

Northern thing...hmmmmm I had me some great northern beans once. White they were, with chunks of ham. Good eatin'. Don't recall no northern fried chicken though!

Sunday dinner on a farm in the 50's. Say grace and then, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans from the garden, hot dinner rolls and home made pie for desert. It was the same as southern fried chicken without the sirs and ma'ams. ;)

Good one! Yep, that's about standard table fare. Ya left out fresh corn and tomatos, pickled peaches and some good 'ol sweet tea. No matter what part off the country you hail from, that will bring the masses together!

West central Wisconsin is where my "Norwegian immigrant family" first settled in the 1880's and immediately took up farming. Other than history class, I have no family investment in the 1860-1865 War. I do find it interesting that the first shots fired were in Charleston harbor from Southern land at a Northern ship, and now its the War of Northern Aggression.

After 20 years in the city of the Masters Golf Tournament, I still miss lefse, lutefisk, and sundbakkels. Three different 'Masters of Grits' have tried to convince me without success that grits are something other than fresh boiled sand and suitable only as ant killer. Grits in the air force and grits at 'home' are still the same -- inedible.

I have no complaints about the southern winters compared to northern winters. Minnesota's 10,000 lakes does raise the humidity in July and August, just like the Gulf of Mexico does in Augusta from late May to early September. But 3 months of deer hunting is a lot better than 2 weeks and 3 weekends. Don't need a snow blower and can't go ice fishing -- life is good.

I swear that I have never ate pickled peaches. Would you mind posting a recipe and I'll try them.

Being a son of Filipino immigrants who was born in Kentucky and raised in West Virginia, I have no regional pride, although I am extremely proud of my state. It is beautiful, and since it is geographically in both the 'North' and the 'South', we get picked-on by both groups. I do wish that people would pay attention in geography and history class in grade school. If I had a nickel for every time that I am asked how far I am from Richmond, I'd be a rich man.

West Virginians get picked on by both northerners and southerners? I didn't realize that. That's interesting.

I've been to West Virginia on a motorcycle trip. I really liked it there.
