This is just off top of my head. may not be 100%

From memory:

20: .38 Special N-frame fixed sight. "Heavy Duty"
21: .44 Special N-frame fixed sight
22: .45 Colt/.45ACP N-frame Fixed Sight ".45 Army of 1950" or "post-war 1917"
23: .38 Special N-frame with target sights. "Outdoorsman"
26: .45 caliber N-frame with target sights. Such as done for the Georgia State Patrol, etc.- with lightweight barrel
41: .22 LR semi-automatic pistol
46: the cheaper brother of the 41- didn't last long
50: Chief's Special Target
52: .38 Special wadcutter semi-automatic.
56: K-target made for US military shooting team- delivered to Ft. Benning I believe, could be wrong.
59: 9mm double stack semi-automatic
61: .22 WMR J-frame verison of the 63.
68: California Highway patrol (.38 Special only) stainless K-frame with adjustable sights.

Then, you start with the "300" nunbers and go to the 400's, 500', and 600's.
(Except model 70 or so, which I think was some kind of experimental "C" frame or something)

3xx: alloy frames- whether J, L or N frame
4xx: Either X or J frames
5xx: X-frames, the model 547 and the two model 520's (one K and one L frame)
6xx:Stainless J, K, L or N frames.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

900: stainless J frame Centennial

I forgot about the 940. :o
I guess I just disenfranchised a whole group. :p

I also forgot the 631, the 547 and both frames of 520's.
I have been told that the newest 617's are on L frames rather than K's.
I don't know because I haven't ever fooled with any late model 617's.

I edited the above to add them.

Left out the 1 1/2, which was also (if the memory is working) a 22 tip-up.
Seems to me that #3 would be more a frame-size than a model, as the 44 American, 44 Russian, 45 Schofield and 1881 Double Action were all #3s.
