Any Sigma owners like it just the way it is?

Anybody love it as is?

I just can't see buying one if it's going to need trigger work. I'm not inclined to send off a gun for an update. I'm a revolver nut thinking of purchasing a 9VE.

I like the ergos on it better than the Glock.

Does it smooth out after x number of rounds?

Thoughts?

Thanks,

lee

if your a revolver guy like you stated and you shoot alot of DA revolvers you will more than likely not have a problem with the trigger. it is around 8-10lbs so nothing crazy like some peole make it out to be. I have put about 1000 rounds through my sw40ve and have never had one single problem.

They are excellent SD weapons, I own two (9mm[& .40S&W) and both my wife and myself find them to be excellent just the way they came from the factory, the gritiness some complain about goes away after a few hundred rounds and the trigger pull is just fine. I own sig as well as a Glock 23 and love the sigma for what it is, the trigger job is always there if you need it as this has a lifetime warranty and S&W's customer service is great. What it is is accurate, HD and SD, but it is not a target pistol but I would buy another in a heartbeat./B]

bought three...had three improved on the factory's dime

Pull wasn't bad, but they were rough, crunchy, and didn't break cleanly.

Paid $250 new after the rebate on my last one.

I just thought I'd throw this one out there.

Like I said earlier, revolvers are my passion. But I have been thinking about a sigma.

Over the years I've heard all the complaints about everything from gun owners. I guess I've been lucky. I haven't bought a lemon yet.

During the 90's, I had a Taurus PT99. Shot the snot out of it for several years without any problems. Now that we have the internet, all you hear is how bad they are.

I was thinking that the trigger pull thing on the sigma was probably overblown on the internet. Starting to read more and more good things about them.

My daughter wants a 9mm. So without telling her anything about the different manufacturers or models, I took her to the store and let her hold 3 guns. P95, G-19 and the 9ve. She said the sigma felt the best in her hand and "pointed the best". So after reading countless threads, I thought I might consider one.

More comments?

Thanks,

Lee

my sigma SW40VE has been trouble free . Have owned it for 2 years. was not having trouble with the trigger just a little gritty, BUT had Frank Smith @LSG work on it under S&W warranty and wow made a good gun a better gun. I see your in TX and LSG is in Comanche ,TX I belive

I love mine. The trigger pull is a bit heavy but it is smooth. I figure that if I am man enough to carry it, I should be man enough to pull the trigger. It is what it was designed to be and that is not a competition firearm but it is designed to be a defensive firearm and it is designed to be carried with a round in the chamber ready to fire the same way a revolver is designed to be carried. i would buy another in a heart beat. A heck of a bargain at the price.

The Sigma is a DA trigger. The local gun shop owner advised me to move my contact point from the pad of the distal joint to the joint itself. You have to be careful here as moving the contact point may cause the pistol to twist and shoot right of center. After following his advice, I found the trigger to be long but very manageable. I bought this pistol as a personal defense weapon, so the long trigger pull is in my opinion a desirable option for a shot/no shot decision situation. I think the Sigma is the best choice among the lower cost pistols on the market.

I like mine. It shoots good. But the trigger is trash. The pull is hefty. But then throw in the gritty feel from ubber cheap machine work and a good pistol goes to a cellar dweller.

Both issues can be delt with very quick. Either send it off to S & W or fix it your self. All the good basic engineering is there in the pistol. It's just missing the finish work. Mine has never not went bang or refused to feed or eject a round be it Rem or Win or any reloaded ammo I've put through it.

If you can manage to only pay $200 for one after rebate,,, $250 tops including tax and shipping. AND are willing to except the trigger,,, or have it fixed or fix it yourself. It may well be the best bang for the buck pistol of the decade. IMHO!

I have a sw40ve and just apsolutely love it, mine is my daily carry weapon. I am a revolver man my self, so trigger didnt bother me at all. the gun worked flawlessly and will shoot anything and still ready shoot some more. mine been carry by me everyday. 14rnds of 40 is very impress for me. my sigma is my work horse gun that I carry, not pretty but dependable. hope you consider a sigma.

I own the sw40ve, Love mine, got rid of the washboard feel of the trigger and lightened it a bit,it is my carry weapon. It leaves home when i do. My wife calls me Dirty Harry and i tell her he had a wheel gun. Her reply has ,i think, has something to do with sex and myself! It is your best bang for your buck. (pun intended)

Look and Feel of the 9VE

<< I took her to the store and let her hold 3 guns... She said the sigma felt the best in her hand and "pointed the best">>

This is what really sold me, as well as the price. I, too, read a lot about the pistol. Jeff Quinn, on Gunblast.com, nudged me close to the edge and Bud's Guns had it right there in front of me on-line.

I recently acquired one, a fairly new sw9ve, not really a plastic gun dude or a 9mm dude but said "what the heck", the trigger is no big deal, no big deal! the gun is awesome, bang-bang-bang 17 times in a row, every magazine, any ammo, countless rounds no issues, the only problem is that I didn't get one sooner.

Yup, just the way it is. It's an issue gun, I have no choice and can't modify it anyway, so I adapted. Not a problem. Ergonomics are great. Great "pointer."

Thanks for the input!

I must say that I found the ergos better than the Glock 19. I also like the P95 but I will let my daughter pick the one she wants when the time comes.

I'm not sure if and when I'll get her one, but I'll surely post if I do.

I got a 9VE 1200 rounds ago. Good pistol, sent it to LSG recently for the trigger job, great pistol now. I just got one for my wife and after a break in to make sure it has no issues I'll send hers to LSG. My trigger is silky smooth, breaks sooner and the pull is 7-8 lbs. Long and hard enough so a "Plaxico" discharge is very unlikely yet a great shooter.

I like mine just the way it is. Being a revolver guy, I am more used to a long trigger pull. The weight of the pull is not an issue. Mine is 4 or 5 years old, and has a couple thousand trouble free rounds through it,

love mysw9VE just as she is

the trigger was a not a problem for me as I shoot wheel guns as well it has the MOST natual point I have ever seen in many years of shooting pick one up make sure its unloaded ,lay your trigger finger along the side, point at something, and then look down your sights---mine will be right where I point everytime
I have never had any problems out of mine and I shoot alot
I carry it daily and love it- no mods made
I think it is one of the best values in a handgun out there
that and the Sw 22A-1
good luck, be safe, and have fun
