So Who likes their Rim-Fire Rifles with Levers? - pics

Here's a pic of my minty '52 production 39A, I bought this from the same fellow I bought the Winchester 1890 from that I posted pics of several weeks ago. In addition to those 9422's I need to pick up from him, I'm kinda keeping my eyes open for an old Marlin Mountie, it would be a nice companion for this one.

Here are two of my favorites from among my lever-action .22s.

The top one is the very rare Remington Apache Black Nylon 76 "Trail Rider." The Nylon 76 was the only lever-action Remington ever made, and only 1,615 were ever made in the Apache Black configuration from 1962-1964. This one was manufactured in May, 1963 and is in excellent condition.

The rifle under it is a Winchester 9422 in the "Traditional XTR" configuration, .22LR. These were hi-grade checkered stock versions of the 9422. This one was made in 1980 and is in excellent shape.

Still need to "shoot" my Mossberg Palomino 400 and 402, Marlin 57M and 56 Levermatics, Marlin 39 Article II, Ithaca 49R, Ruger 96/22M and Winchester 150 Carbine.
Some day I hope to come across a Winchester 9422 Classic at the same time I have the cash on hand for one.

Lever rimfires are FUN! :)

I've put this up before but the OP started it with a Winchester 250. Here's mine (circa 1963):

Helluva neat little rifle, Paladin. There aren't too many guns I've never seen before, but that is one of them!

Got my first Marlin 39A just last year. It's a 1950 model which I really wanted as that's the year I was born. And, I really like shooting it. Last trip to the range with it, I turned around after shooting and several guys had gathered behind me wanting to shoot it.

Folks, what a treasure trove of beautiful rifles!! This is one of the best pic-posts I've seen, let alone started...I love these guns.

Thanks for posting the 250s....my gun must be a later model as it has a different lever...

I agree, the wood is beautiful!!! Pressed or not!

All this talk about the 39's, I'll relate my story. I mentioned I bought this from a friend of mine who is slowly selling off his collection; I've mentioned and pictured several other guns I've bought from him and will buy from him in the future. Anyway, I was visiting him last spring to buy a few rifles from him and he mentioned this Marlin to me; he handed it to me, I gave it a look-over and handed it back to him, I really had no interest in it. About a week later I was back in Texas and for some reason that little Marlin popped into my mind, all I knew about it was it was a 39A and looked like new. Just about that time Bill called me and told me he forgot to show me a rifle he thought I might be interested in, a Winchester Model 72; he described it and I told him I'd take it. Then I asked him about the Marlin, he gave me the price he thought it was worth, but said he wasn't sure he was ready to part with it yet. I told him I was interested and if he wanted to sell it, he had a buyer.

A couple of months after that visit Dad was having some surgery so I flew home; of course, I knew I would find some time so see Bill. When I got to his house he not only had the 72 out for me, but also the Marlin, so they both came home with me.

I've always had a soft spot for lever actions, rim or center fire. When I thinned out my Marlin collection a few years ago, I sold off the long-barrelled 39A and kept the Mountie. Much later I was doing some research and discovered it was only one of a small number (about 50, I think) manufactured in that year that still had the standard rifling...the rest were all the newly introduced micro-groves. Beautiful gun but I had to add receiver sights to it this year...eyes just getting too old to shoot well with the original open sights.

cptdco,
As you can see, my eyes appreciate a peep over a traditional sight. I do enjoy my Mountie.

I have a Williams peep on my 94/22 and my eyes aren't that bad........yet;). I like the fact that I can shoot groups with it that are almost as small as those aI am getting with my scoped .22's at 50 yards. It's a lot better for hunting too.

Gun 4 Fun,
You are so right. I agree with everything you wrote. This is a Williams and it came with the Mountie. I can shoot about any rifle better with a peep-sight!
