I recently purchased a NC Star AQPTF tactical flashlight for my 4583 TSW. I like the light, but it will not latch into place on the rail. Problem is that the back of the light hits the triggerguard before the mount's crossbar reaches the slot in the rail. Not by much, but enough to prevent a secure mount. The instructions that came with the light indicate that this will be a problem with some pistols. Fortunately it does fit my Glock so I may keep it anyhow since it costs only $35.

My question: Does anybody know of a not-too-expensive (under $70) tactical light that will fit this gun?

Thanks!

I had the same issue with my NC Star. It fits my M&P 45 (FS) fine but had the same interfearence on my M&P 9 Compact. Nice light if it fits!

Spend a few more dollars and get a TLR-1. You can find them for around $90 if you shop around.

The TLR1 won't work either.

S&W put the cross slot in the rail in a different place than Glock did, since almsot every light is made to mount on either a pic rail or a Glock rail, this leaves the S&W user without many options outside of the M5 light (which was made just for the S&Ws).

I cut an extra slot on my 5903TSWs rails, and several other guy's duty guns at work, so that we could use the lights made to fit the Glocks.
This is rather easy to do, but slow, with a good set of gunsmithing hand files.

I don't mean to be contrary but the TLRs are packaged with small inserts to enable use with odd-ball rails and one of those inserts is marked for use with TSWs and possibly the P99s (S&Ws Walther variant if I have the nomenclature wrong) so all one has to do is switch the small insert after removing an allen-screw.

The inserts included are Picatinny, Glock, TSW/SW99, and Beretta 90-Two.

TLR-1 FTW!

Wow, there isn't an industry standard for the configuration of rails ?? Where is the value in having a special rail that won't take common aftermarket devices???? That's just poor engineering in my book!
I'd expect more from S&W.

Guess I got lucky with my NC Star and FS M&P.

Wee Hooker, It isn't just S&W. H&K, Beretta, and a few others have the same issue. I have ordered a TLR1, which has adapters for all those models and is more than twice as bright as the NC Star.
Are you really a Wee Hooker?

Weapon Light

Look at the Streamlight TLR-3 it comes with multiple adapters to fit numerous weapons.
