Who's happy with there 15-22

Absolutely love this gun. After a little "tweaking" it performs flawlessly and is a lot of fun to shoot. Will need to get a 2nd job soon with all the accessories......

Janizary,

WOW you really were tempting the fates today with the golden bombs! I am excited to hear you had no OOB's and she performed like a pro!

Maybe this is a good sign and in the future we will be able to run the RGB's :)

Thanks, I'm glad mine worked out so well on its first run-through with multi-hundred RGBs (which is good since I have a nuclear stock pile of them for plinking with my various .22s). I never seem to have the luck of finding the Federal Bulk at WM (though I have snagged a few 333 packs), but the 550 RGBs seems to actually be in stock now and then (well, for a few hours at least)

I'll probably go out again next weekend and run a few hundred more RGBs through it just to be sure before I put it in my son's hands for extended shooting.

Personally I would climb a tree if anyone tried to give me RGB's the only time I ever shot em was the time my bud let me use em. And they turned out to be more of a headache than what they were worth. Maybe their gettin better now but I stick with federal bulk for plinkin and CCI Stingers for huntin.

So far for me, the only problems I've had are FTF with everything I have run through mine. CCI's are the only one's that have been flawless and never gave me any problem. The worst were these Federal "target grade" I got at WM, then the American Eagle, and actually the RGB's have been better than most. I have noticed my 15-22 demands to be clean every time before I shoot it, most likely because of the crappy ammo. But to be fair, the FTF only happen about 2 or 3 out of every 100, which is still a pain. I haven't tried the Federal bulk yet, it's almost impossible to find around here, and only certian WM have it. That's my 2 cents.

Are those FTFs Failure to Feed or Failure to Fire?

Sorry, failure to fire, I haven't had a problem with any failure to feed. My serial number starts with DTX****, so hopefully most of the prior problems are fixed. One other in here said his was the same #, but I haven't heard if they've had any problems or not. It's been in the 30's and 40's when I've gone out shooting, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. :)

I had a problem, sent rifle in, now back and is working as designed. I am now a happy MP15-22 owner.

Bought mine in mid Jan. shot like 5 mags. then got an OOB and the extractor flew and was using Winchester xpert hv hi velocity ammo. Sent to S&W got it back in 2 weeks now it shoots great so far. Right now I'm shooting military surplus store Federal Champion 36 grain 525 bulk pack. Bought 2 boxes of them and so far I shot around 350 rounds of it and I had one Failure to fire and one Failure to extract on the same bullet, the extractor did not pull the bullet out of the barrel. So I just pulled back the bolt and let it slam back on the round then pulled it back again and it pulled it out. Beside's that one hiccup it shoots excellent now. I'm Loving!!! the 15-22 now. Can't wait till tomorrow to go and shoot it some more.

I hope the Fed Bulk shoots well, I just picked up 1100 Rounds of it.. :)

I've had great success with the Federal 550 bulk packs that I get at Walmart. I picked up another 1100 rounds last night for this weekend. I've used Federal Champion and Federal Lightning and that's also performed well. The Federal ammo has been some of the most consistent ammo that I've put through this gun.

On a completely unrelated note, my buddy gave me a bag of .22 ammo the other day. It was literally a plastic baggie taped shut with random rounds in it... *cringe* He was clearly taken advantage of by a salesperson who was preying on a non-shooter. Anyhow, it was comprised of mostly Remington GB's. There were about 200 rounds in total after taking out the .22 shorts and mangled rounds. I had about 5 misfires with that crap and a couple failures to eject... but I burned through it as fast as I could to "season" my newer mags. Seriously, those are some of the dirtiest burning rounds I have ever used... it looked like someone had dumped pepper into the trigger assembly when I cleaned it that night. Glad to be rid of them though.

I have the other DTX17** that rockinghunter was remembering... I was having quite a bit of trouble with failure to feed when I first got it, but have figured out it was a problem with the mag that came with the gun. I bought two new mags from S&W that work flawlessly and my local S&W rep is sending me a new mag to replace the troublesome one. I use mostly the Federal bulk from Wally World. I tried some CCI but did not see any difference to justify the increased price.
This is my first AR type gun, and it has been fun accessorizing it, but it has also been expensive
Replacing the mag has been an easy fix;)
I LOVE THIS GUN! :D

x2 - CCI is OK, Winchester 333 was usable (but barely). Both Federal Spitfire and Gameshok 810 (40 gn RN, copper washed) have been practically flawless

Today I took my 15-22 to the range for the first time and had nothing but a great time with it. I thought I would go through about a hundred rounds but ended up going through about 250 rounds. I shot Federal, Winchester and a old bag of miscellaneous shells I found that are probably 10 or more years old. I did slow fire, medium fire and shot two full mags as fast as I could pull the trigger and never had a problem. I had the old style magazine and a new one and both worked great. My friend was having a few problems with his but when I checked his over I found some of his shells not aligned right in the magazine. I have noticed that when you use the side spring button to help you load the magazine that you need to be careful or you can misalign the shells in the mag and have the nose just slightly angled down and that may have been his problem. Once I showed him how I load the mag he did not have any further problems with failure to feed.

I've put over 1200 rounds through mine with no problems. And strangely enough, the first 550 rounds were the infamous Remmington Golden Bullets; only about 5 failure to fires with those. Been shooting Walmart Fed bulk since and like it much better, much cleaner shoot ammo!

I'm looking for honest feedback from everyone like myself who hasn't had a problem with there 15-22. I've put 600 rounds through mine without a problem. I'm looking for others who have had this same experience WITHOUT sending theres back. Tell us why you like it. I already know why I like mine. It's been trouble free, easy on the wallet and it puts a smile on my face. Who else HASN'T had problems?

Mine is running great, but only has a few hundred rounds thru it so far. I tweaked the ejector a bit which fixed the FTE issue I had the first day out. Also, mine seems to like round nose ammo better than the truncated "bulk" stuff. It runs the Winchester 40 grain high velocity round nose ammo very well.

I have the "old" style extractor parts. If there is ever an issue, I know S&W will take care of it.

Another good day at the range (back yard) put 500 throught it and the only problems i had was with my #3 mag, got it a couple of weeks ago and used it for the first time today(mag) at first all i could load in the mag was 20 rounds, after i emptied the mag i noticed that the follower was put in upside down at the factory, must have been put together on a monday or a friday

DTB and no issues other than mag snag and i noticed when it happened mag "was not loaded properly" had 4 friends shootin and loading also.

Took mine to the range today, and got about 100 round off. The original magazine just sucks. I bought my 15-22 in November. I loaded the first time going nice and slow, and it worked fine. Then I got in somewaht of a hurry, and the a few bullets were not staggered. Cursed numerous times trying to get it unloaded to start the process over.

I hope the new magazines are better. The rifle is fun, but I'm not thrilled with the finicky nature of the magazine I have.

no remorse

I'm in love with this rifle. I can't wait to start dressin' her up. She really likes the Fedaral bulk I've been feeding her. Somewhere close to 1000 rounds with zero incident. :D

DTX5*** by the way
