SW40VE front sight replacement

My guess would be that these replacement sights are the same height as the original sights.... I was looking for a shorter front sight.
I was on the Glock site and they have a package for $11 that has a fixed front sight and about three different rear sights of different heights. The Glock rear sights will not fit the Sigma (obviously) and I was thinking of buying the kit just for the front sight and giving it a shot. I'm not interested in a 'glo in the dark' sight or a fiber optic sight. It's too bad that Sigma doesn't have a package similar to the Glock package.

Hey Ray,
Work been keeping you busy or weather been bad? Looking forward to a range report.

I agree! I can't wait to hear if we find fiber-optic solution for the rear sight as well :)

I'm inspired. I bought a used SW40F and am in the process of rehauling it's guts. New trigger return spring, striker spring, slide insert, extractor, etc...

Now it looks like I need to mod one of those nifty HiViz fiber optic sights for a Glock and pop it on my pistol!!! Very excited.

front green HiViz fiber and file set purchsed from MidwayUSA and will pick up from them this afternoon. gonna try it tonight on my SW9VE

They did not make me wait long...they are backordered.
Just sent me an email with the "We are sorry..." song and dance.
Thumbs down to opticsplanet.

opticsplanet did the same thing to me although on a safariland holster. I cancelled my order and got it elsewhere.

i just spent 15min with a file and installed the HiViz fiber optic green sight on mine... looks amazing. haven't shot yet, but i imagine i won't be shooting as consistently low now, since it's a lower sight.

anyone know of any fiber optic rear sights that will work yet??? thanks guys!

Work and the weather have been killing me lately... may be another week or two before I have time to make it out.... I will get there eventually and post the results.... with pictures of course.

Finally got time off work on a nice day.... headed out to the range with my S&W ( as well as a couple of other handguns ) for a little shooting.... don't have any "before" pictures of targets with the original front sight, but if I held to point of aim before my shots would be well below the black part of the target and near the bottom of the paper.... with my shorter front sight installed, she now shoots where I am aiming.... much better.... here is a picture of a target- 15 rounds @ ten yards....

The results look good. I may have to do this if my shots are consistently lower then where I'm aiming.

Ray,
Nice shooting. The replacement sights look like the way to go.

Not to take anything away 'cause he's done a great job, but the Sigma sights are set to be 'on' the target, not at 6'oclock as normal.
I've got my sights on his variation of the sights, since no other sight maker seems to be interested for FO sights on the Sigma.

I was holding "on" the target.... shots were still hitting 6-8" low at seven to ten yards.... I wasn't and still am not holding at the six o'clock position.... it was far enough off that I was seriously considering just getting rid of the pistol.... I am much happier with it now.... just might keep it.

That does it, once I am done breaking in my SW9E I will be modding a Fiber Optic front sight.

i definitely need to buy some threadlocker...mine comes loose after 2 full mags :p

A question. Has anyone tried filing down the factory front sight to match the Hi-Viz sight height? You could then paint it red or whatever color you want. Just a thought now that I know the proper sight height. :p
