SW40VE front sight replacement

Hey Ray. I'm new to this forum, and so I hope-hope-hope you are still around to answer some procedural questions. I just now noticed that this thread is over two years old, so please be available. According to your stated specs. on the Glock replacement sight it was .018" wider than the slot on the Sigma slide. I'd like to know please, what was the geometric shape of the replacement sight's mounting post? Was it square, or rectangular, or some kind of polygon? And how Exactly did you file it to fit? Did you carefully take metal off both sides equally? The .018" greater thickness would equate to .009" per side. How did you accomplish taking the same amount of metal off each side, if that's what you did? Did you use a very fine file and a micrometer, or did you file it down by trial-and-error until it fit? Did you take metal off just one side or both? I need these details so I can make it work for me too just as it worked for you. Obviously the slot in the Sigma slide is that of a two dimensional cross sectional view of a cylinder. The post of the Glock aftermarket sight looked like a polygon, specifically hexagonal. Please, exactly how did you make it work? Thank you.

No one has posted in this thread for awhile, but recently made the HiVis front sight change and I am very pleased with the results. Amazon carries the sight. To answer the question on the HiVis post shape, it is an oblong like the Sigma hole only a little too large. I basically just had to gently file the sides of the new post to cut it down to fit. I tried to take the same amount of material from each side. I also found that it was necessary to round the oblong edges slightly. When it finally fit it was snug with no play at all. I also used Blue Locktite. If you need to remove it in the future it will release with heat as from a soldering gun. Buy your self a small file. Mine is flat and about 3" long and very fine. Go slow and you'll be fine.

Greetings to all. SW40VE front sight replacement: Current (1/30/15) info to share: HiViz (North Pass, Ltd) has the GL2014 now available. Comes with R/G/W Lite Pipes. Use a 3/16" nut driver and threadlock, plus a jeweler's file to close-fit the sides of the lug and install the sight.

Many of the other Glock replacement sights discussed way above in this thread are no longer available now in 2015, including the GL2006, GL2009G and GL2011). The GL2014 is the shortest of the sights that will fit the SW40VE, and its installation, I found, was easy.

Additional advantage: If your SW40VE shot low out of the box (as mine did) the shorter sight will put your POI back on at 15 to 17 yards if you hold at the 12-o'clock position. At shorter ranges, hold dead center, and you'll probably be right on... Hope this helps.
