Any good S&W CCW 9mm

Quote: "To think I would carry my Sigma or even delute my self to carry the Sigma would be a dishonor to CC".

Not sure what that statement means. So, for what it is worth, I carry a Sigma every day and it is concealed. I have 14 rounds of .40 S&W at my disposal. I have nothing against anyone who wants to carry a small gun with less capacity. At least you have a gun on you. But to say that you dishonor CC by carrying a full size gun begs the question. Sawed off shotguns can be concealed too. You just have to dress for it.

For a ccw I would have to go with a few that have been offered up already the 3913/3914/908 or any of the chief's CS9,40,45and the venerable 640

S&W has no game when it comes to deep conceal.
Eh? The M&P9c is bigger than the Kahr, but so what? It still can go deep cover. I carry a 3913 every day, concealed, even in summer with shorts and a T-shirt. BTW am sorely tempted to get a M&P9c. And the new Taurus Slim is just that, new and unproven.

Lastly, and not that PDs have never made mistakes, but how many police depts do you know that have issued Kahr's or Taurus, or Kel-Tec? Vs. how many issue M&P?? That says something, in my book.

cs9 is not discontinued

I saw on this post that the cs9 is discontinued. It is not.

I just purchased one new, from the factory last week, and

they are retooling as I type with new cnc machinery in Houlton, maine for the cs9 and tsw guns

I sure hope so, I see a CS9 in my future. :)

It doesn't get any better....in a S&W compact CCW 9mm, than the CS9 (IF it fits your hand!) or 3913/3914/3953/3954.

The M&P compact is thicker through the slide, and has a lousy gritty trigger.

I would not put much stock in what the local police carry. Having worked for law enforcement agencies for fifteen years, I would point out that rarely is an issued handgun chosen with any input from shooters or people who will have to carry it.

Bureaucrats and bean counters more often have the final say. It's all about dollars and "reduced lifetime costs".

The Guilford County NC Sheriff's department just traded their Glock 22's to S&W in exchange for free M&P 45's with holsters....and advertising concessions. The folks I know over there (gun guys/shooters) wanted Glock 21's but nobody asked them. The bean counters though it was a good deal.

Fortunately many agencies have an "approved list" of pistols that you can purchase on your own and carry on duty once you qualify with it. This policy keeps you from being saddled with a handgun that is cheap to purchase, and popular due to extensive advertising and a historic nickname. Most cops (not all) I know are not shooters and view annual qualifications as a chore. They know as much about their handgun as I do about cold fusion.

My 3913 easily conceals under a T-shirt and is accurate and reliable. Nice examples can still be found for around $400, making it a value as well as a gem of a pistol. Good luck with your search! Regards 18DAI.

Thick? Yes. Gritty trigger? Well yes. But the second part of that is easy to fix. And with all the the new factory and aftermarket trigger components coming out you can make an M&P's trigger smooth and light with a clean break. I will stick with 3rd Gens for now, but I think they are making regular improvements to the M&P.

Soooooo true. If the gov't was selling off milsurp M249's for $1 each I bet I would be carrying one of those on duty instead of my $100 Glock.

Your best bet size-wise is the discontinued CS9 with the delrin grip mod (shown here with the oem Hogue grips).

Is the CS9 single-action only?

For those that looked at my post side ways.

I don't need a brick on my person. I can go from desk work to climbing all over boilers and chillers turning nuts and bolts with very large wrenches not to mention the 60" pipe wrench I have been known to pull out to make a college boy look like a idiot over there sorry system design. Or standing there discussing pump suction and discharge psi with folks that write great emails. But always leave there Kimbers and up at home. While I have my simple to the point, can't make it print PF-9 on my person.

I want my CCW small and to the point. Light and very shootable. <<< is that a word? :) IMHO S&W does not make that tool for me. And if they did. What would it cost? Why isn't the new 380 BG at least a 9mm? It's a repeat of early Sigmas but more in a M&P dress. I would by a Kel-Tec 380 hands down over a the 380 BG and it's laser. It's not like a 380 is anything more than a belly gun.

I would never carry my Sigma or CZ-52 much less a 1911 on a diet or any number of so called normal carry pistols. I need bullets, not bulk and weight.

If you're interested, you might take a look at the CS9. I just had a chance to compare mine directly to a PF9 a couple of weeks ago. The CS9 is about 1/8" longer in the slide, a little thicker, and a bit taller than the PF9, but the weight is close enough that I don't think I'd notice the difference. The standard Hogue grips are really too thick for my taste, but a pair of Big Dog's Delrin grips take care of that.

Personally, I think the CS9 is a little bit better shooter than the PF9, and I suspect it will have a longer mechanical lifespan.

I have been carrying an M&P C for the past 12 months it is comfortable, conceals well and is accurate. This is in South Louisiana where we don't wear heavy clothes very often. I really enjoy this pistol.

:D Was just advised by a Forum member that the factory is still producing the CS9, CS45, 3913TSW, 4513TSW,4013TSW. I checked, they're listed on the S&W website. I left a message with my FFL to inquire about availability.

VERY good news! Thanks for the info ladder13!

I'm going to inquire with the area LEO rep, to see if there are any of the rail free 4513TSW's with full size grip floating around. Best regards 18DAI.

The CS9 is a Traditional Double Action.Your first shot is in Double Action and the subsuquent rounds are in single action.I am a long time double action revolver guy so I had the S+W armorers convert it to Double Action Only and do a trigger job to smooth out the Double Action Trigger Pull.My people like myself find the Novak Sights shoot low to point of Aim.Bought a set of Trijicon Night Sights and found that it now shoots directly to point of aim.Others who were finding the low hit situation found that the sight switch out solved the problems. The final thing that brings it all together is a set of his delrin CS9 gripsThe Hogue rubber grips print out in CC mode and drag on the draw in pocket carry mode...Hope you join our happy CS family.......God Bless....MIKe
Is the CS9 single-action only?

They are still producing the guns but as a LEO order item only. When you go to S+W'S site they are under the law enforcement and military categories unless this policy has recently been changed....God Bless..MIke
