In the dog house again

I stopped at a local pawn shop today and they had a model 36 snubbie there for $379. I looked the gun over and it is 100% I could find no wear marks or powder residue anywhere and the gun appears to be unfired.
After a little friendly bartering I walked out with the gun for $325 out the door and now the wife is giving me the evil eye again. I tried to explain that this was only the fifth gun since Christmas but she wasn't buying it. Oh well!

Diamondback I tried the "honey I got a real good deal and can make money on it" and she ain't buying it. Now she says she's gonna get new kitchen cabinets. WOW! this gun could to get expensive.

$325.00 should be easy to forgive. Usually mine are in the $1000.00 range, and that's just the ones she happens to find out about. Oh well.

The "evil eye"....the "fine print" in the marriage certificate....my eyes were much better so many years ago, not like they are now...but...still...somehow...I missed that "fine print"....oh well...I love her just as much as she loves me....so asking for forgiveness comes easy....and any pain is usually short-lived...Good Luck! in your ventures....

Sometimes it is better not to tell the wife when you buy a new gun. Bring it home, stick it in the safe and she will never know. Always have cash on hand when making a purchase. This make it a lot easier. Good luck with the wife.

I can agree that, after consideration of marital circumstances, it's often better to keep a new acquisition a secret. For a time. But in the end honesty's the best policy.

When a gentle dodge is not feasible, my position in my marriage is that my gun ownership and acquisition are my hobby. They make me happy. What's more, dear wife, I know what I'm doing. The firearms I buy will hold their value. In some cases they are better than money in the bank. The likelihood is that I will die before you. In that instance, those firearms that I have not willed to our children will be yours to dispose of. You will certainly get my money back, if you're only moderately shrewd. In the end, the guns' value will redound to our family's greater benefit or to yours. Let me enjoy what I enjoy. Nothing of ours will be lost.

I can handle the Dog House, whats killing me is all these great Pawn Shop finds f/great deals. Every time I buy one, from a Pawn Shop, it looks like it has been thru WWIII. She does not get mad @ my buying them, it is all the money I spend afterwards that gets her feathers in a ruffle??????RH

This is a true story, my family and I had just sat down in church and it was getting ready to start when I leaned over and wispered in my wifes ear that I had just bought my Springfield Armory M1A and told her of the $1200 dollars I had just spent, knowing she could not yell at me and would have an hour to cool off. She did not cool off to much but it was funny as all get out seeing her get all red faced and not being able to yell at me. This is not a move for the timid.

My main problem is keepin' her from "adopting" my new acquisitions.

Itchy just got done "re-doing" a bathroom at no small cost.

Due to all she spent on that, I'm runnin' on a pretty loose rein for a couple of weeks anyway.

The problem I have with my wife is getting to keep my guns. She acquired my M-66 because she like the target sights. I let her shot 100 rounds with my 10/22 yesterday. The first question out of her mouth was "could I hurt someone with this?". Why sure lots of people have died after being shot with a .22LR. Well this is her new HD gun, it moved to the front of the safe. This is after I had to hear "what another gun, why is this one different from the last one?"

I picked up a 586 yesterday and I too am in the dog house........ Everytime I get in trouble I think back to my day's of being single and how I should have bought everything in sight!

I tried saying, "Honey, I bought something for you today. It's a beautiful little gun. Now we have guns just alike. I be glad to keep it for you and when ever you want to use it. I'll have clean and ready." However, that only worked once. The next time she said she would keep it safe and clean. I should have known better, especially with her being a retired police sergeant.
