I would never hope to see any pro gun forum die. Now some of their members death may not bother me too much.

+1

I figured out a long time ago to stay out of the political religous threads. They are only for people to state thier opinions and to try and convince everyone they are right. WONT HAPPEN.

The .net version has no members to speak of. You perhaps are speaking of the other one??;)

I'm old....and as such have a gift...long memory...:)

That .net version has more then a few members to speak of....

One of the best old time S&W gunsmiths resides there.
Steve

I know what you all are saying.I have been kinda treated mean on this forum.yes I was shocked when I didnt get a free gun for being a member .

Perfection

Posts on this forum have brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart. We are very emotional about our pets and ex-spouses. I have laughed so hard it hurt, and felt so inadequate 30 seconds later.

Other forums just don't have the character, charisma, or characters of this forum. Besides, only because of a liberal president can a gun-toting conservative receive unemployment, social security, and a paycheck in the same week!! :D  :(  :o I give up pick one!

One of the best old time S&W gunsmiths resides there. You'll never find his caliber on this or the other S&W forum. Gary, realistically wrote the book on some of our favorite Single and Double actions. Folks have no clue how much we have lost over the years here at the forums when the very best gunsmiths in the industry stopped posting. Gary is on par with no-one... he is that high above the bar.

Steve

All I was saying was they have about 7,000 members. Yes the individual who used to be able to give out info for free, now due to legal stuff has to print it out and sell the information which is well worth it and wonderful stuff.

(if we are writing about the same place and person):)

I know the forum since I read the ones that my now loudly snoring wife belongs to including the one she is a moderator one. We got in late from out on the town and I actually danced with her more than once. :)

I would never wish for a gun forum to die either, but they do need some common sense restraints on what is becoming some more and more nasty comments on their political section. It makes me recognize that the rules here may be right and correct. People do let their emotions get away from them. And there are a lot of personal attacks from both sides.

I never joined there, but even she is avoiding the politics section or just posting more joking or humorous comments because of how nasty it is getting at times, and sticking to the other portions of that forum for that reason.

We do have an excellent staff of Mods on this board, and I am grateful for their tireless work.
I am away this weekend at OGCA, so this thread was canned till I could get some board time.

Most of you know my viewpoint by now:
This is a gun board.
I run it for the advancement of all things S&W.
It is a large gun board. Being large means we have many members active every day, with many divergent viewpoints about the various topics of life. So, we walk a fine line between allowing a Lounge where the 'other stuff' is discussed, and maintaining peace on the board. On a large board, some topics are sure to start fistfights, so they are simply banned. You know them- politics, religion, gay rights, abortion, etc. There are plenty of places to discuss these topics on the net, so, since it will not advance anything related to S&W, we simply choose not to suffer the wear and tear.
The Admin of other boards are certainly free to run their boards as they see fit. I personally don't see the point in allowing the discussion of the topics that stir up intense rancor when they have nothing to do with the primary purpose of discussing a specific brand of guns. Allowing a Mod to add to the rancor does seem strange, indeed.

Generally, we have always frowned upon ongoing discusdsion of other boards.
Hard to explain, but it generally seems unprofessional to some degree.
I'll allow it to remain for now, but if this horse dies, we'll quit beating it.

This ignorant old man needs to ask a stupid question. What is the definition of a TROLL?

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into a desired emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."

Didn't a Southpark episode already answer that?

I'd further comment but I think I have recently lost credibility on this board due to my dissenting opinion and way in which I attempt to explain myself.

If any of you out there feel that I have been "troll"ish as of late, well I can understand that, but my intention of posting is simply to understand your and my position on certain topics of interest. Sometimes stating what you truly think is the only way to get the real subject matter out on the table. Hopefully I can keep in mind that all types of people with all kinds of opinions own and love S&W's and I should be careful how I communicate here. Although, I am fairly certain I'm in a minority of sorts here.

Having said this, I would hate for anyone to be less willing to help me out on this site based on the political stance I take. I could just see it at a future SWCA event, "there's that darn moderate from Utah, don't talk to him."

And by the way, this site is heads and tails better than any other gun forum out there. There is no disputing that.

Vaia con Dios.
