SMITH & WESSON - VS - JOHN DEERE

And I thought I hated MY riding mower for blowing up a battery and splashing my "flank" with acid :D

I carry a KT .380 DEEP in a pocket out in the yard, but I still think about something like this happening.

Box it up and send it back to S&W with your story.
All they can say is NO.
It's decommissioned for all intent & purposes anyhow.
Hate that it happened.

Sheriff it ain't rated for "diddle squat" now.
Most all the bullets got their noses ripped off or the shells/slugs crushed.
Took me 3 days to recover the parts that i have.
Have some 2 inch S&W - 686, & 649. Maybe i'll swipe my wife's 638 & put it on the mower. Naa.. she might go looking for it someday. What could i saw if i ground that one up also. Gota look for another 4 or 6 inch S&W in the 38 caliber - like a K-Frame.. Its Snake Season here in North Florida now. Nailed 2 rattlers two weeks ago.

reminds me of the time I ran over my brand new SS. Gerber Multi-tool with the snow blower.
The Multi-tool made out just slightly better than your Smith. (man and I thought I was sick). I ended up cutting the tool out of the snow blower where it had welded itself. Opened that new 36" Huskey dual auger like a tin can then welded it back closed. I was more sick about the snow blower at the time. (brand new snow blower).
What a shame about your revolver. You have my heart felt sympathy.
As for a new snake gun,,,,
Have you considered the "Snake Charmer" 410? easy to shoot with one hand and a better snake slayer than any revolver.
Personally, I think the "Judge" is a bit ugly but a lotta guys like 'em.....
just my dos pesetas

Ouch! I'd send it off to S&W requesting a high gloss re-blue and see what they send back.

Have you considered a Sigma or M&P? Either of those would be less wear and tear on the mower.

Ouch is a under statement! That is too bad but sure beats having to get a new mower deck for you JD. The good thing is a Model 10 like that will be easy to find as a replacement. I hope the service was nice.

Gunbroker...

Ahhh, you can list that on Gunbroker and recover some of your costs. Just mention some minor "holster wear." ;)

I think this could be a nice candiddate for someone with good photoshop skills.

This is you S&W.
This is your S&W on John Deere!
Any questions???

OK, folks, let's not take the wrong inference here... It is still best to take a gun to a gunfight, not a John Deere lawn implement...

Or better: This is what will happen to your Model 10 if you shoot +P ammo in it:

Sorry to hear about your loss and I truly feel your pain. Luckily no one was hurt or killed as the piece was ejected out from the mower deck. I can just hear those bastard liberals then.

If you want, I can send a bagpiper or two for the burial.

If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny. Call S&W for a return label. The worst they can say is no, and you're no worse off than you are now. Who knows? they might actually send you a replacement. But take good photos of the gun and your mower and send them to John Deere. You might even see it re-created in a TV ad. (And maybe get a few bucks, too.) If I'm not mistaken, it has to be reported to BATFE as "destroyed". S&W can do that for you as well. -Ed.
