Today the Supreme Court extended the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to all 50 States. This ruling invalidates Chicago's gun ban.

Today the Supreme Court extended the Right to Keep and Bear Arms to all 50 States.

More info on this GOOD NEWS can be seen at the Wall St. Journal site here on the 'net.

Other sources will soon have further information, I'm sure..

Some states and cities will still fight for their own restrictive laws, but at least the foot is in the door, and in a good way this time...

What wonderful news! :)And before the composition of the court changed, which might have prevented such a decision!

The disgusting thing is that the right wasn't being enforced from the first.

Great news. I hope this puts the final nail in the coffin of the Brady Bunch.

Here's a notation from Judge Samuel Alito, who wrote the 5-justice majority opinion:

"...the right to keep and bear arms must be regarded as a substantive guarantee, not a prohibition that could be ignored so long as the States legislated in an evenhanded manner."

Let's not lose sight of the fact that 4 of the 9 justices disagreed, those being the same liberal judges who dissented in Heller. One more liberal judge on the SCOTUS could tip the balance in the future. The conservative majority must be maintained for this nation to continue as originally conceived.

The most disconcerting thing is, Daley is a criminal.
He has taken the rights of free men and twisted them into what he believes subjects of his "kingdom" should be entitled.

Be assured the der fuehrur of Chicago will do all within his power to do what he wants- which means denying honest people their rights through the application of copious mountains of government bureaucracy and exorbitant fees.

Mayor 'Stupid' in Chicago is already set to put roadblocks to gun ownership there. This is a major victory for us, but there will still have to be a lot of litigation to make the 2A apply to everyone.
This is a very good reason to continue to support the NRA as this ruling would have never came before the SCOTUS without them. God bless the USA & the NRA.

i'm the eternal pessimist. When some thing good happens I'm pleasantly surprised. As opposed to the optomist who's constantly disappointed. I'm an advocated for states rights. Anything adjudicated over the entire country, can just as easily be reversed.

Daley the 2nd has already been quoted that registration will be required. His position is that if a first responder is called to a residence, they should "know" if there is a gun registered to that address.

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that the Constitution's "right to keep and bear arms" applies nationwide as a restraint on the ability of the federal, state and local governments to substantially limit its reach. :) :D

This is what it is all about. The NRA is fighting and supporting the rights of the second amendment for every law abiding gun owner. If you are not a member, please take the time to join. Our membership dues pays for legal battles that are on going both on local, state and federal issues. If you are a gun collector, gun enthusiast, shooting competitor, Hunter or interested in gun history, you too can help in the legal cost of our heritage.

That amounts to a police data base of gun owners. Illegal in Indiana. If everything is going to be 50 state inclusive, then?

As soon as I heard the ruling I knew it was 5-4 with the four liberal who value European laws over the constitution against gun rights. Sure enough! It's always up to Anthony Kennedy, the spineless moderate who'se vote's are very erratic.
This ruling is Bush's legacy, fellow gun owners. If Gore or Kerry won the Presidency there wouldn't be a Roberts and Alito there.
