Pickled Eggs

EWWWWWW! To each his own, but pickled eggs measure an absolute 10 out of 10 on my "disgustometer"

Let me roll out a balut (eggs with legs) or two for your culinary experience and you would start eating normal pickled eggs like they were the finest of rib eyes.

We were thinking about inviting Larry The Cable Guy over and having a party.
Just for giggles we invited him to a couple Super Bowl parties when I lived over there. Never did hear from him though...maybe he doesn't check his web site very often.:( The idea for the flea market bit he does came from that one on 17-92. It can't be but about 3 minutes from where he lived.

The eggs sounds great...going to give that recipe a try.

Yes, I know what balut is...and no people who tried it...sold four for a piso outside any bar in Olongapo, PI.

(BTW Piso is spelled correctly here, but still pronounced "Peso"....Any service people on this forum will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about here).

Disgusting to the nth degree.

I tried to forget about balut AND this thread....I just ate dinner for pete's sake!

Years ago no little Mom & Pop tavern was without a couple of gallon jars of pickled eggs on the back bar.

Last time I ate them and drank beer with it, I couldn't get anyone to work with me for two days because of the gas LOL.

i knew a choctaw indian years ago, he said him and his buddy were riding around drinking beer eating pickled eggs and his buddy got choked on the egg and ran off the road and hit a tree and killed him, he said me no more eat pickled eggs!

When I was a drunk I used to like pickled eggs. Now that I'm sober and can taste again.....YUCK

My grandfather would stick a large jar of pickled eggs in the cupboard and I swear he would leave them until they were almost black. I bet they would really sail if you hit them with a tennis racket.

He also let his Limberger cheese soften on the radiator.

Am I missing something?

My recipe is 2 parts apple cider vinegar, 1 part water, and 1 part sugar. I throw in red beets, onion rings, and a garlic clove. No need to refrigerate.

I’ve never had pickled eggs so I tried your recipe the same day you posted it. I sterilized the jar, put in the apple cider vinegar, water, sugar, red beets, onion rings and garlic. I then cracked a dozen eggs into the mix, sealed the jar and set it aside.

The questions are: How long before the eggs harden into their normal shape? The ones I used just sort of fell apart, and now the liquid is all dark and thick. Do you use fresh or older eggs? Shouldn’t I have sterilized the jar or maybe I shouldn't have sealed it? Am I missing something?
