I would like to shoot some hot 10mm thro my 1066.
Will only do this once or twice to get the rush of full power ammo.
Any member recommend a brand to buy for this one off experience.
Thanks.

Because of what you have in mind, get the hottest stuff you can find. Buffalo Bore, Corbon, etc. That should satisfy your recoil itch.

Guys I bought Double Tap and HSM police.
The double tap was like shooting 9mm and the HSM Police I needed sunglasses.
Boy that HSM is bright.
Have some Federal for next Friday.

How do the above mentioned brands compare with the original Norma loads?

THAT is a question for the ages!
Given Corbon,Buffalo Bore and Double Tap - I think a lot would like the answer for the question but unless someones got some old data squirreled away I don't know that it will be answered! Sure would be nice to have.

from the back of the norma box-200gr. 1200fps.energy-635ft. lbs. on the side of the box-the ammunition contained herein to develop a mean pressure of 37,000psi with a maximum pressure of 44,400 psi. plus or minus industry tolerances. hope that answers your question. there is loading info for loads in this range if you are a reloader. this is a stout round.

I have a couple of boxes of the original Norma ammo laying around somewhere. I knew it was pretty high pressure stuff and didn't remember ever seeing any loading data that was supposed to duplicate it. VihtaVuori Oys reloading manual states the SAAMI max pressure is 37,500 psi while the CIP max pressure is only 36,200 psi and their data does show some differences between the English and Metric data.

While looking up some of the data I noticed that Accurate has a load listed for a 200 gr. Spr TMJ that clocked at 1200 fps with a pressure of 36,300 psi. Plus they have several loads listed at 37,000 psi or over. I might have to get back into this round, although it won't be in my two Delta Elites.

some time ago, brian pearce had an article in handloader magazine that had a bunch of higher pressure loads in it. was oriented toward the heavier bullets as i recall.

Supposedly the original Norma loads never quite made 1200 FPS, the fell a little short. I'm trying to get a little shy of 1200 fps with 200 gr FMJ and Blue Dot. :D

True, most advertised velocities are a little on the "you wish" side.

I like the 200gr Norma, but prefer the Norma 170s. It is advertised @1300fps. I bought some for my Bren Ten. I shot 1 box of it, but now shoot lighter loads for practice.

Gents,
The lot of Norma 200 Gr. I chronoed when I bought my first Delta Elite when it came out averaged 1139 vs. the advertised 1200.

Good shooting.

You did say hot?

Probably so but the rating was measured out of a Bren Ten barrel which is different than a DE. The Bren Ten barrel was freebored and used the Obermeyer R5 rifling. Because of the freebore and less engraving pressure, you pick up a little velocity so the Norma ammo was actually pretty close to the published numbers when fired from most Bren Tens.

When it first came out, DoubleTap's 10mm ammo was very stout indeed but if you check over at GlockTalk's The 10 Ring Forum, you'll find a lot of folks grumbling that they can no longer get chronograph readings near DoubleTap's rated velocities.

:)
