This is a spin-off from the M-870 vs. Mossberg 500 thread in a way, I guess.

But that topic put me in the mood for pics of Wingmaster and higher grade M-870's. M-870D Peerless grade, etc. Skeet guns with nice wood, that sort of thing. Any Wingmaster as opposed to the econograde Express versions.

Anyone got good ones of sporting guns of this type? Seems that 90% of shotgun pics on the Net are home defense or SWAT types. Doesn't anyone hunt birds anymore?

Here's my 2 plain ol' , non-tactical , non-combat 870 Wingmasters. As ya might notice , I removed those ugly white-line spacers from under the buttpad and grip cap.

The top one is a 16ga. That's my favorite bird & bunny gun.

The 12ga at the bottom has an 18" slug barrel mainly for home defense. It also sees more clay bird use because I just can't get cheap 16ga shells.

That's an old Savage 430DX 16ga over/under from the 30s in between.

My favorite pump gun is a Ithaca #37

But I still have this Remington Wingmaster #870 28 gauge skeet gun with the magazine tube weight and a spare plain barrel with a fixed modified choke. This gun was part of a matched set of 28/.410 pumps sold by Remington in the late 60's/early 70's with matching serial numbers.

I had a camo #870 Supermag but gave it to my son for his birthday last November.

When I was a kid, I bought a brand new Remington 870 Wingmaster with a vent rib skeet barrel. Model 870SA, if my memory is correct. I think it was $169.95 plus tax. Soon after, I sold it to buy mag wheels for my truck. Still kickin' myself 33 years later. I do, however, still have the other 870 that I bought...a 12 gauge 2-3/4" Brushmaster slug gun (Wingmaster with rifle-sights, smooth-bore deer barrel). Sorry...no pic. :(

Here's a 20ga from the late 50's I picked up a little while ago. Plain barrel, modified choke, (just the way I like 'em). It has become my favorite dove gun.

Picked-up this '60s era Wingmaster in the late '90s. It had seen better days but the action is butter smooth. The previous owner had just finished dressing her up a bit (buffed out some pitting & parkerized it, refinished the stock) when it came home with me. While not a real looker, she shoots great and the price was right.

A while back I wanted a HD shotgun, but could not bring myself to buy one of the new express models. Managed to locate a set of old beat-up police stocks & barrel for dirt cheap. With a little elbow grease and wood stain I found in the garage, she now serves double duty as a tacticool zombie blaster. Since this picture was taken have added a mag extension.

Here's a couple:

The top one was/is my first trap gun; a "TB"; the second one is a 28 ga. Wingmaster. The bottom one is just a Beretta 20 ga. I didn't weigh-in on the 870 vs M500 survey, but the only Moooseburg that I own is a 22 LR that can best be described as problematic. -S2

Here's an old 16 ga that come to me in my younger days with the barrel chopped off. Added the poly choke and used it for hunting for years. Mostly a house gun nowadays. :)

870 Magnum

I bought this one in 1986 from K-Mart, when they were still selling guns. Figured I could bag anything that flies with it.

Pics of longguns are hard to do right so I never pic'd mine.

I have an early 60's Wingmaster. They put some beautiful blue on them back then. It came with a 28in barrel but I got an 18in for it for HD. Wood is beautiful.

I paid a wopping $185 for it last year.

You've got me wanting to try to get a pic for it now.

I paid either $100 or $125 for mine, brand new in 1969. It came with a 26" IC barrel and I used it for everything with that barrel for 25 years. I've since bought a 28" with choke tubes and it is now on the gun.

Mine has had some mud caked in the knurling of the barrel nut for at least 30 years. It won't come out. It shows a little wear and tear, but by and large looks new. I've never had a malfunction with it but did have a Remington dove load, those black plastic cheapie 1 oz. 12 ga loads, squibb and catch on fire in the chamber.

Here's my 1965 Wingmaster my wife bought me for our first Chistmas. Of course is had a 28" barrel and no mag extension or sling swivels then.

i have just an early 90s 870HD with 2 barrels and a 20 ga youth that is actually really comfy and points good for me on long pheasant walks

You have the plainest grade of the M-870, but it clearly works well for you, and that is one of the best photos in this thread! Good lighting and a good camera. And a photographer who knows how to take a really good shot!

Doves aren't easy to hit. You clearly know how to swing that gun!

"just a Beretta 20 ga."

Well, there are far worse shotguns! :D All three of those look good.
