NcStar Mark Iii Blue P4 Sniper 3-9X42 Rifle Scope With Laser

Has anyone tried one of these on the M&P 15-22? I see they run around $129 and that sounds like it is too good to be true for a decent scope...not looking for the best but don't want to buy junk either.

Thanks,
Garp

its about as good as you can get for $100ish. full on riflescopes are offered by more 'established' companies are an option. but most here don't have too many complains with their ncstars.

if you want "compact tacticool" ncstar isnt bad, or check these out.

I wouldn't buy NC-Star on a bet.

Spend a little more and get a real scope. Check out the Mueller APT. It's 4-15x40, has target turrets, and is $145. I used a Mueller APV for smallbore (.22LR) rifle silhouette competition, and it was a fine scope.

Just curious, what were your experiences with the NC? I just bought one, haven't used it yet... might be able to return it..

Aw, heck! All this time I thought my NcStar Mark III 3-9x42mm P4 reticle with a quick release mount WAS a "real scope"! Now I am bummed out.....I may cry....:(

Everything becomes obsolete after you buy it

I picked up a Nikon Prostaff 3x9-40 new at Natchez for $99. I think the Nikon quality is probably quite a bit higher than NCStar.

I'm pretty happy with the deal I got last week from amazon... $93.00 delivered for this one... but I may have to return it... ;)

Oh ya... It's nowhere near the cost of my Eotec with flip out magnifier, but I have a feeling it will do what I want ...

I hope im not hijacking but may i ask what problems you are having?

I bought a Tasco 3-9x40 for under 45 bucks with mounts from wally world shot it yesterday and love it. It works and thats all that matters to me.

I have two NcStar mil-dot 3-9/42 with micro red-dots on them and they work just fine. For the price (less than 100 on sale on amazon), they totally fit the bill and look awesome! People always trash this brand and usually it only takes a little medium thread locker on the screws to make it hold zero typically.

I mean c'mon, there's always gonna be better, BUT WE'RE TALKIN plinkers here and there's more accurate ones out there than our little M&P 15-22's. Even on our $1100 Stag we're runnin this scope and it's fine. I'd put dollars to cents half the people talkin smack about them have never owned one. Don't drink the hateraide, even if it's free online, =-)

Here's what the setup looks like

Spending more money than a NC Star is money wasted...;) For what some of you guys are paying for a plinker scope you can pay for a bodyguard 380:confused:

nc star is the cheapest of the cheap, made in china with poor tolerance and manufacturing processes. The company was founded with these ideals in mind, low cost, cheap products- profits will come from the sheer numbers of people that want to spend as little as possible. Have they suceeded? I think so. I'd rather support a company that is founded on the ideas of offering high quality products and customer service. I went with Vortex, they are now surpassing Leupold as best customer service in the business. Their products are as equally matched.

I have a post on here asking this same question. Im looking for a good but inexpensive scope/red dot for plinking from 25-50 yrds at the range. I understand top quality stuff costs big bucks but there has to be a happy medium. I mean, I know Lexus makes a great car but I can buy a cheaper Honda and be completely happy with a great reliable product. So who is the "Honda" of scopes. I see no reason to spend $300+ on a sight that is only used for fun purposes at the range. If I was entering marksmen competitions then yes, Id spend the money, but Im not. I just need a decent scope that will help with shooting the bullseye from 50 yrds.

Just my $.02

for red dots, many people here have had success with the Primary Arms clones. The company seems to have great warranty practices in the event anything isn't working, unlike most. I would probably say that is the best red dot under $100 range.
Primary Arms - For Optics Accessories & More | Weapons Optics | Firearm Supplies

For scopes, I'd probably spend $200 and get a riflescope instead of one of the 'tactical compact' ncstar ones. They may work but are a gamble.
This 2-7 viper is probably the best scope under $200 right now, the next closest thing to it would be about $400. SWFA Vortex Rifle Scopes Vortex Viper Rifle Scopes
The 3-9x40 diamondback won that comparison i posted earlier for best scope under $200, they retail $189 at most stores.
http://swfa.com/Vortex-Diamondback-Rifle-Scopes-C1409.aspx

Or if you only want to spend $99, Vortex 6-24x50 Crossfire Rifle Scope
not nearly on the same level of the viper and diamondback line, even vortex will tell you this. but at 6-24x it can providefor some long distance magnification, even considered overkill for anything but target shooting. you wont find that kind of acceptable magnification at that price from other companys. vortex also tells us this is a cheaper made in china line, but it wouldnt be possible to bring us this price if it were made anywhere else. Even on their cheapest line they still warranty it in full 100%.

I would go with whatever best suits your application, they will all work it just depends how you will use it. red dots for short range ~50 yds, and then you got all the riflescopes and varying magnifications depending on how far out you want to shoot. Or buy one and get the other sometime down the road, I plan to have one of everything eventually.

Excuse my ignorance (new to the rifle/scope game) but when a scope says 2-7x32 or 3-9x40 for magnification, what exactly are those numbers referring to?

Also, I see with red dots like the M4 Primary Arms has you can buy a 3x or 5x magnifier. Does that work bascially like a scope? Meaning, you get the simplicity of the red dot but can zoom in on targets with it?
