tyler t grip inserts

I managed to snag a N-Frame Tyler T-Grip from gunbroker last year.

From what the fellow told me "Tyler" stopped supplying any additional distributors and wanted to bring it all in-house. He sold off his remaining stock through GB.

I was hoping this would speed up the process of ordering and solve the delivery issues.

Looks like it went the other way. Too bad really, a solid product with a great history.

No excuse

I'm glad that the family has finally updated the website with sketchy information about production dates. Hopefully this info is true. They have given me absolutely no reason to believe anything they say.

Months and months of silence, of ignoring their posted phone line times, and the complete and utter disrespect for their customers as evidenced in the numerous stories posted here, and in forums across the web is completely inexcusable.

I will be glad (and amazed) if I ever see my order.

However, I will never do business with them again. They have destroyed my trust in what was once a fine American business.

"Oh, you can't reach us by phone anymore? Uh, it's because ... uh, we're moving. Yeah, that's it! We're moving. And uh, our phones will be turned on sometime next month and we'll get right on your order, okay?"

How can anyone believe a single word uttered by these folks?

I will never deal with them again. I did find that Altamont boot grips fill the bill for me. Only 40 with no year long wait.

Same story as most of the rest of you. My check cleared last Oct. 28. I started trying to contact them at the end of January.

I've made dozens of unanswered phone calls since then and got only a ring tone or occasional busy signal probably caused by some other poor soul trying to contact them at the same time. I've tried sending them them two letters with a copy of my cancelled check to try to make sure they had my address correct but have had no response.

I've used T-Grips for years on backup and off duty revolver and have been highly satisfied but have never had this kind of delivery issues before.

I can kind of understand them getting behind on their manufacturing process but failing to respond to customer's questions about their orders is extremely poor customer service. And if they can't come anywhere near their projected 8+week delivery window they should update their website and stop taking their customer's money with no delivery date in site without notifying them or at least responding to customer inquiries about their orders.

No wonder the OKC Better Business Bureau give them an "F" rating.

Tyler Manufacturing deadbeats

Ditto for me. Two T-grips ordered 18 October. Check deposited 22 October. That was the last sign of life I had from the Tyler company, although someone there continues to update the website with the Latest Excuse. Resorted to BBB this week. Will advise.

Guys, their service time is just trying to compete with some of the refinishing shops.

Well, I resorted to the State Attorney General's office which is in the same town, and no luck. Must have relatives working there. They kicked my complaint over to the Postal Inspector's office. Just wanted it to go away, apparently. So much for elected officials. I'll see what the Feds do with it. Yeah, right!

From past talks with T-grips I found that most of them work as full time officers and only run the company part time.

Tyler woes

From the Oklahoma City BBB 4.5.11:
"In a call from the company's management in November 2010, the company will no longer accept or respond to customer complaints processed by the Better Business Bureau. Company management states that, due to unforeseen staffing issues, it has fallen behind on a number of projects and has made its customers aware of that shortfall. To respond to further complaints takes away from the company's efforts to catch up on the pending projects. While the BBB understands and appreciates the company's position, the Bureau feels that the company is responsible for maintaining the goodwill of its customers and, despite difficult or challenging business conditions, should respond to disputes. However, it should be noted that a business' participation in the BBB's self-regulatory dispute resolution process is strictly voluntary. The BBB will not formally process complaints against the company in the interest of immediately moving those disputes toward another venue, such as the courts."

Have a few - like 'em a lot.

I believe they're cutting their own throats by using this approach, who do they think their customer base is? We're a bunch of old school, grumpy old codgers. That's why we have revolvers in the first place.

"But" - even if they catch up with their orders, I wouldn't do business with them again. Reputation & customer service are my two major selling points when doing business.

Good luck to you guys in recovering your funds and good luck to Tyler for this incredibly poor & short-sighted business strategy.

There is one thing in this world you don't want to have to deal with is a grumpy old codger. Think about it, we spent half the night emptying our bladders then when we do finally get up we hurt all over, and that is the best part of the day, it's all downhill from there.

After all the history on this - probably close to the "Nigerian Scam" - anyone foolish enough to do business with this firm gets what they deserve.

My buddy has 20 or 30 year old T-Grips on his J-Frame and they felt great. In December of 2010, I found their website, printed the order form, and sent them a check.

I do not think this was a foolish action - how was I to know that the firm is a fraud? At the time, I did not belong to the S&W forum and there was no mention of these problems at that time on the Colt forum.

All Tyler has to do is change their website and voicemail message to explain whatever their situation is, stop cashing people's checks, and deliver what has already been paid for.

Just hire more people and fill the orders. Get a loan, sell some stuff, do what you have to do. Many people are able to open ice cream shops or nail salons or whatever and thrive and they have nowhere near the name recognition or profit potential of this product. A shame, I was going to order 4 sets before I saw this thread.
