Looked at a M&P 340 the other day. Liked the look and the feel of the gun. I thought it would make a great pocket carry. Looking for any opinions and or comments about this model. Thanks.

I don't have the M&P but I have the 340PD. The only difference being the M&P has a steel cylinder and the PD's is titanium, so it's a few ounces lighter. I love this revolver for pocket carry. I literally forget it's there. They aren't fun to shoot but they are excellent in this role and I think you'll agree if you try it.

I have a 340sc. I love it, had to buy another one. Carry every day. Best pocket gun I've ever owned. I shoot nothing but 357 in mine, have around a thousand rounds through it. I see no problem with it or me holding up.

I love my M&P 340! :) What a great carry gun. Very easy to carry and shoots very well. The best part is the great XS Sights® 24/7 Tritium Night sight. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have the older (original version) the 340Sc...it has the titanium cylinder and Scandium alloy frame....it is as light as can be and it is a joy to pocket carry....I run 357 Magnum through it all the time (Golden Sabers). I do practice with some 38 special's in 130 gr LRN just to save wear on my poor tired hands....I think that for personal defense/self defense type of usage, you just can't go wrong (assuming you have no underlying health/hand issues).

Agree completely!

The 340PD (Titanium Cylinder), the M&P 340 and the 442 are all available without the lock.

The M&P 340 costs about twice as much as the 442. For the additional cost you get the following:

1) Scandium frame
2) XS bit dot front night sight
3) Ability to shoot .357 Magnum rounds if you want

So you need to decide whether the three items above are worth the extra price.

Personally, the M&P 340 is on my "short list" of guns to buy. (That is, if I can ever get the money together.)

I'm very happy with mine. Like others have mentioned, it's light weight (~13 oz) and compact size make it very to carry in your pocket and its XS front sight and "U" rear notch makes it super fast to get on target.

It's surprisingly accurate and, with a grip change, it's easy to handle the recoil of .357 Magnum ammo. i keep mine loaded with the Border Patrol's former duty ammo, the Remington .357 Magnum 110gr SJHP.

I have a M&P340 and a 340PD. Love 'em both. Ya won't regret having one or the other or both......one or the other is my EDC, in a pocket-holster.

I stuff mine with Speer GoldDot 135-gr for short-barrels. I have both the .357-mag and the .38-spl +P for them. I generally have the .38-spl +P in them.

I have the m&p 340 and love it for pocket carry. I have tried the kahr p380,lcp,442. The big dot sight and the bigger sight guttermake a world of difference. The hornady critical defense 357 shot good and are managble. XTROOPER will you please post a pic of factory grip next to the pacmeyer grip.

Are they just a bit bigger. I want something a little bigger for my 60- 357mag. Thanks, John

I would say the Pachs I'm using are bigger by a fair amount. They're not much bigger in length, but they are thicker which, of course, is what makes them so effective in minimizing felt recoil.

Mine was all over the place brand new, sent it back and now it's a keeper. As said, it's a great choice for a carry piece. I like the .38 Special variety of ammo for it, the Magnums are for hardened artillery vets.

340PD

I've had my 340PD since they first came out. In MHO it is the best concealed carry piece ever invented. It stays in an Uncle Mike's pocket sleave in the front pocket of my jeans or Khakis. I practice with 38's but keep 3 +P 38's followed by 2 357s in the cylinder when carried.
