Since it's been years since I *shopped* holsters, who is working with horsehide AND doing good work with it these days? I know Kramer and Sparks are, and they've been my primary sources over the years, but there have to be others putting out similar quality work. I've purchased a few cowhide pieces in the past year to try different designs and to speed up deliver (particularly as compared to Sparks) and they just aren't delivering what I'm used to - perspiration comes through on IWB on hot days, the leather is stretching when it is hot and humid, the holster body and boning are less rigid, etc.

Suggestions, experiences (good or bad), and pictures of first-rate horsehide holsters would be appreciated!

If you are looking for IWB, then you should definitely look at the Crossbreed horsehide holsters.

I swear by Kramer horse. I have some of his horse hide holsters/mag carriers/belts going on 18 years of hard use. They still look good and the pistol still "snaps" into the holster as it did on day one. I will certainly buy more of Kramer's superb holsters. Bill

Galco makes an IWB horsehide holster, the Royal Guard. MSRP is actually more than a Sparks Summer Special, but can probably find one without waiting. It's just me, but if I can do without a holster for as long as Sparks & a few others take, I can do without it forever.

+1 on Kramer Horsehide. They are all I use for my concealed carry firearms. I have a vertical scabbard and an IWB #2 for each of my carry guns. I swear by them! Sometimes they take a little while to arrive but they are worth the wait. I've never been disappointed.

Check out Ken Null, he was making horsehide concealment rigs when Kramer was in Jr High. He's on the net.

Probably the best of the lot is Horseshoe leather--if you want to wait on Andy. He will do horsehide but he poopoo's the idea that is the best hide. I have two of his and I agree, the man knows his business.
Blessings

I have 2 from Galco. One fits a 1911 pattern and the other is for a Sig 220. Both have given good service over the years.

My Crossbreed horsehide holster is due to arrive any day now...

Even with motorcycle jackets, horsehide is tops, but you do pay a premium for it.

have both

I have a summer special 11 and a royal guard, to me the royal guard is far more comfy then the ss 11.having said that kramer 3 iwb horsehide beats them both...
