3" model 10 police trade-ins at buds

Hey Wheelgun, just a suggestion; your friend might call Bud's cust svc and see if he can return it for a full refund (or replacement - but that's unlikely as they sold out). I'm guessing that Bud's will take it back - no questions asked. Their ad said; "...BUDS guarantees your satisfaction or your money back !"

I got mine the other day, but had already seen a 65 3" I liked better so I never even picked it up from the FFL (although i did inspect it). Locks up nice and tight. No endshake or timing issues. Some loss of blueing as expected. I sold it on this forum in less than 20 minutes.

Well my second one finally made it in. Like my first one, the action is very nice, very smooth double action, crisp single action and no significant wiggle to the cylinder. While both are 10-5's the second had a matte black finish and did show much more wear. Very crisp trademark/logo, though.

Oddly, one is stamped "Mod." over "10-5" while the other is stamped "Mod 10-5"

They're Back

I don't know how many there are this time, but I just bought one from behind the glass at the store in Lexington this evening. I think they are selling online to VIP members, but they had them in stock in the store as well. It was nice to get to fondle the ones they had sitting out and take my pick of the litter. I got one with very little end shake and a very smooth double action trigger. I picked up a new smith revolver just to compare and the new one isn't even close.

Did anyone ever determine where these guns came from?

If the guns arrive in a brown cardboard box with a red lock they are direct re imports from Australia. Local dealer just had the S&W rep in the store and he said many more are coming.

I see Bud's is now selling a 4" Model 10 in both square and round butt for $269. Wondering if they're getting more 3".

Still trying to decide on grips. These are some I already had, along with this Jay-Pee holster for a 4". Not pretty, but the actions are nice and smooth.

Hello all. I just joined and this is my first post. I too have been tempted by these guns as I currently have no revolvers. I though would really like to wait for those 66's that are on the way from Australia. So, besides the price, what other reason is there to pick one of these up instead of a .357? I just don't want to regret getting one instead of the 66.

Welcome to the forum. 3 inch S&W K frame are pretty neat, good enough reason to get one. :)

This is what my 3" square butt model 10-5 looks like now. I started a separate thread under S&W-Smithing to answer any questions concerning the SB to RB conversion details.

So no one called Smith to find out where these babies came from?

inquiring minds want to know :)

Funny you should ask that... I did call them today, but to ask about the 66's I mentioned in my other post here. The gentleman I spoke with had no idea what I was talking about when I asked if he had any news on the Australia guns. Oh well :(

I read on another board that the author went to Bud's and was told that these were from Australia, the stamp with the VPA on it may give that credence.

G'day mate, 3" K-Frame better than shrimp on the barby,
