M&P 22 arrived

darn, jealous of all you. decided my m&p9 was costing too much in ammo in Jan, needed a 22. Got the Sig mosquito. Wish the s&w 22 was available then. The Sig is really nice, but i can only use mini mags, not bulk cheap stuff.

:) My brother went with the sig as well.. got tired of waiting... now he needs to file for new permits! NJ makes it so darn difficult.

Looks like I need to place a bulk order for CCI minimags from Lucky Gunner... fwiw, good bunch of folks...many orders, never a problem.

In MA, I know how your bro feels. :)

Would love to try out the s&w vs. sig. Aside from the finickyness on the ammo, sig is a really nice piece of equipment.

OMG, the mosquito has been around for years. You would think by now they would have ironed out the ammo issues.

I agree, my borther had serious jam issues right out of the box and set it back for rework. I havn't seen the work, but from what he mentioned, it sounds like SIG followed the youtube tips :) He also mentioned he needs to rack the slide to insure a good feed. After that it works smoothly, no jams...

Now, on to a happy note... got a call from my LGS today letting me know that they would have the M&P in by Friday or Monday... we did chat a bit, all of his initial supply is consumed with pre-orders.

Down side, the price is very close to MSRP :(

I'm very eager to get range time on this one... :)

I saw one today at a lgs and if it a shoots as good as it looks, well i just got to have one, waiting to hear youe report when you get it.

Does the trigger feel much like a regular M&P trigger? Would love to see a pic of one with a supressor, I think that would be the excuse I need to buy a whispering .22!

Here's a little of my experience with my M&P22, some of this post I had posted on another forum, so for those that have read it already sorry. First off I consider myself an average shooter at best so please bare with me. I own 3 other M&P handguns(with Apex parts), along with a Browning buckmark and Ruger 22-45, I have had NO formal training other then what is offered through the NRA. I just got back from the range and am VERY pleased so far, I don't think S&W hit a home run, but still like I said very pleased. So far from new all that I have done is run a boresnake down the barrel, as a rule with my Buckmark and Ruger, I'll run a minimal of a brick and sometimes up to two bricks before cleaning and planning on doing the same with the M&P22. So far I have shot a little over 1100 rounds through it so I'll keep you updated. I've only tried 2 types of ammo, American Eagle 38 grain copper plated hollow points and Federal 40 grain solid points, the AE ran flawless (the first 400 rounds NO ISSUES even with the Surefire light installed, the following 700 rounds (3 failed to go bangs) 1 stove pipe and 2 FTF, hammer didn't drop, MY fault thumb against safety) the Federal was horrible, 2-3 stoppages (fired but failed to cycle the slide)to a mag. In all fairness though my Ruger will run the Federal but the Buckmark will not. The trigger took a little getting used to, but towards the end of my session I started putting some decent groups together. What I really like is the fact that it works with all my holsters and accessories, and enables me to practice with a handgun physically identical to what I carry. If and when a conversion becomes available I'll make that decision then, it would be nice to have the same trigger feel and to lose the safety (I will probably cut off the lever on the left side). I purchased it from a local gunshop for well under retail ($349.99 Thanks Hakes Sporting Goods, super to deal with).I've posted some pictures and if anyone has any question I'll try to answere, along with, if anyone is in the "York, PA' area, they would be welcome to shoot it. The first two pictures show a comparison in weight between the 22 and my 9mm. The third is of the thing field stripped, super easy.

Nice photos, thanks for sharing, I'm still waiting for my dealer to get his allotment.

It will be worth the wait, my only 2 complaints are the trigger (getting better with round count but still will never be like it's bigger brothers) and not having the option to purchase with out the thumb safety. In all fairness as well, this thing is capable of ALOT better groups then what my targets represent, the more I shoot it the more I like it.

Well, with the rain blowing through last nite from the hurricane, I was bored and decided to do some work to the M&P22. First was to get rid of the left side safety lever, much to my surprise no cutting needed. It's actually easy and can be reinstalled to restore to original. All that needs to be done to remove:
1- field strip
2- remove the both roll pins through the frame (1 the rear, is the one that you remove to install the Apex sear) there are ONLY 2 so not confusing
3- lift the entire assembly out of the polymer frame (nothing falls out so don't worry)
4- remove the safety lever (just pulls off)
5- reassemble
The shaft for the safety goes from one side to the other and is pressed through the safety (so it can't walk)and is squared off to recieve the safety levers. With it removed, Now I can reach the mag release with ease and will not inadvertantly push the safety up slightly causing the gun to not go bang.
Sorry, I didn't think at the time to take pictures, but very straight forward and took less then 10 minutes, and that was with analyzing everything.
The second thing was to try to change out the sights with the stock sights from one of my other M&P's (installed Trijicons on them) Well this did not go as easy as removing the safety. First the MGW sight tool that I bought to remove and install the sights on my other M&P's will NOT work on the M&P22. The stock sights come off very easy with your fingers by just removing the set screws, installing the new sights a different story. The rear isn't bad, it starts in the dove tail by hand then just needs bumped in with a brass drift, or you could even use a plastic hammer, literally bumps does NOT require stricks. The front, a completely different story, if I had it to do over I would have left the stock sight on. I did install it but won't go into the lengthy detail, if any one is interested contact me and I'll fill you in. Really, the stock front site is a dot already but is a little smaller. I would recommend the rear sight change though because it's easy and makes a huge difference.
Only put 2 boxes of shells through it today(not much time), but it worked and shot flawless. Going to the range again tommarrow and will give an update.

Is it possible to take off both safeties and make it like a "no thumb safety" M&P, even though the part is set up a bit differently?
