Just what is a "FACTORY RELOAD"?? If it comes from the factory in a once shot casing, does this make it a reload? I thought if it came from the factory, it would be an "original" shell, not a "reload".

Yes.
"Factory new" means all new materials.

I also love a deal

about 2 years ago I bought 200 rounds of 41 reloads. I have not had the guts to shoot them
I have a S&W 58 that I wont shoot them in
I have a Taurus I am not convinced is strong enough
I have a Blackhawk thats where I thought I would

But I wont so I thought I would fine a Contender barrel
Maybe not

They will probably be there in 10 years

Pull the rounds and reuse the components. The powder should go in the flower garden, but the bullets and cases can easily be reused.

I've got a question from those that would never shoot reloads from any other source. Do you include Georgia Arms, Ventura Munitions, Bitterroot Valley etc?

I buy reloads from all the above companies, most assembled from once fired brass and all new components and find them to be better than the typical new Winchester White Box or Wallyworld Federal.

My reloading equipment was "liberated" from me years ago by my oldest.
Besides arthritis bothers me enough that I probably couldn't/wouldn't reload now anyway.

Do you include these well known companies on your list of sub-par reloads being sold at gun shows? Or is it mainly the no name stuff I occasionally run across?

I was given a box of gun show reloads. They still sit in the box. Never know what conditions the equipment or the one reloading were in. But you got the picture. Happy shooting Bushmaster1313.

Only took me a month to answer this...

Yes, sir, I agree with OKFC05. A factory reload is once fired (hopefully) brass reloaded by a factory. Factory ammo is from new components.

Yes, I do. I examined some Georgia Arms reloads and components at a gun show once, and was extremely unimpressed. I can make much better at my own bench. If I need to buy factory, at least with one of the big name manufacturers I know what I'm getting.

I agree that buying reloads from "some guy" at a gun show can be a bad idea.

However...I have put thousands of rounds of "factory reloads" through my guns over the years. All have been purchased from a well known and trusted commercial reloader, and I've not experienced one problem, ever.

In fact, the only serious ammo-related issue I've ever experienced was a squib load in my M.625 with Blazer .45 ACP ammo. It lodged in the barrel, but luckily my friend (who was shooting it at that moment) noted the difference in report and recoil, and stopped firing. I've not purchased any centerfire Blazer ammo since then...nor do I intend to.

Back in the '70s everyone and his brother was reloading .357's to maximum power.

I wish I has a photo of a fellow officers Python that went up with some knuckleheads "manstopper"reloads.

The end result was the top strap peeled forward until it was verticle, not only did the round in battery blow,but also set off the two rounds next to it...

The hammer went into the web of his hand and the visit to the ER left him with a 3 inch scar and nerve damage to his right hand.

Many months of recovery and physical therapy later....he ended up retiring on disability as a result of this.

He was very lucky it wasn't worse.

Sad sad story.
