Range prices!

When I retire, I'm going to open up my own outdoor/indoor range that costs $8 all day or something haha.

I have 4-5 ranges within my reach. 1 being free. 2 very nice indoor ranges within 35 miles. I suppose the 2 indoor ranges are around $200 a year membership plus range fees. The free range is very scary and crowded if you know what I mean. I finally decided to join last year my best shooting experience ever. Green Valley Rifle & Pistol club in Columbia, MO. Home of the Bianchi Cup. What a energetic place. 2 ranges to choose from. $200 a year! Bargain.

My range is 48 cents a day!!

I don't fuss with the indoor range as the "professionals" shoot there ALL THE TIME. I know absolutely nothing about the place. The local outdoor range is $20 per day, or $175 all year (365 days-7am to 10 pm) and the range is closed to the public Mondays and Tuesdays except for EPM's(Exclusive Park Members). I'm happy with this set-up. By the way, My Sweety bought me my 2012 membership for Christmas!! Woo-Hoo....:)

Maybe my club is not so bad after all. $60 a year and 4 hours of service time, and attend at least one meeting. We have bowling pin bay and a steel target bay, a 16 bay 25 yd and 50 yd bullseye range with covered shooting positions, and a 16 position combined 50 yard PPC and metallic silhouette range. We have matches almost every week end day, its gated for member use from 9 to 9 every day and right next door is a 24 bay rifle/pistol range out to 100 yards that costs about $5/day and open on weekends to the public.

You mean the Rocky Fork Conservation Area public range? Yeah, I know what you mean. People being absent minded and sweeping the line with rifles/pistols, firing on a cold line, and wandering out in front of the 25m line to shoot closer with handguns.
Still, it's a lot cheaper than Green Valley, especially when I've already got a Targetmasters membership for shooting in the winter (no range fees, just yearly membership, $150 new/$125 renewal). If you visit Rocky Fork during a weekday or early on a Saturday/Sunday morning it's usually pretty empty.

I pay $50 a year for wife and I at local gun club. Get 50-200 yd rifle, 2 pistol ranges, shotgun patterning range, skeet, trap, archery and fishing.

You're being robbed.

Nice local range is $12.50 for unlimited time. On Mondays my lady shoots for free too. You are getting taken, but if it is the only game in town - oh well.

Our local club, in Washington State, offers 100-200 Yd. rifle w/covered positions, a short range w/covered positions, five speed steel bays, pattern board, pin and trap ranges. All for $60. year. Membership has doubled in last three years.

hey anchor, where is that range, I live in the lacey, olympia area

Wow....I feel pretty good about what I have available.

My two closest options are Sim-Trainer (indoor facility) and the Miamisburg Sportsmen's Club. Both run about $200ish per year, and there are few restrictions associated with the memberships. Sim-Trainer doesn't allow you to shoot above .223 indoors, and no shotguns. At the MSC, I think I can shoot about anything up to a .50 cal. :D The MSC also has an indoor range, but Sim-Trainer is far superior for indoor shooting.

My third option is another outdoor facility - Spring Valley Gun Range. It's a bit of a hike for me...about a 40 minute drive. But it only costs about $20.00 a year to shoot there - it's a state owned park (Ohio has several like this) which has shooting facilities mainly supported from hunting license revenue. On the minus side though....it only costs $20.00 which means anyone can go. It's an incredibly busy place on the weekends, and a great place to go to see people demonstrate what not to do with a firearm.

We have an older, but recently remodeled with new ownership, indoor range close by. About 5 miles from the house. It is $17.00 per hour, but offers memberships. We got them to extend the corporate membership rates to our HOG Chapter. It allows 10 members for $1850.00 per year. We had an overwhelming response to people that wanted to join. So, for $185.00 per year we each get unlimited range time with no additional fees. We also get discounts on all merchandise in the store. I would say a pretty good deal.

That's crazy paying for a range.

I can honestly say I have only paid for a range less than a dozen times in my life.

It is clearly harder in some areas, but I would recommend driving a bit to find some quiet patch of land in the "country."

Less noses, less costs (depending on the drive), and more fun.

J.

p.s. there are many different routes to take when looking for land, google is your friend. But don't hesitate to contact a real estate agent that is somewhat new; they have more connections when looking for land and would do it as a side project.

p.p.s. Don't contact a real estate agent unless you would actually consider buying land. (Times are tough out there and wouldn't want to waste someone's time.)

Where I am Jacksonville, FL there are two close ranges both are per day prices and you don't have to buy anything from them except range time. One is $17 the other is $12. The $12 one always has a long wait usually at least 45 minutes. Back in CT I was getting $10 for an hour with free guests. They both are pretty much same quality ranges.

Is Gateway Rifle and Pistol Club still there?

Well once the weather gets a little warmer I will look for an outdoor range, until then, I will get a 1 yr.membership for $200 and shoot everyday to get my moneys worth:D

We've only got one indoor range within a 225 mile radius. It's only got a few 25ft. pistol lanes and one 75ft. rifle lane. $20 to shoot the rifle lane with no time limit. I shoot fairly often at a WMA Range about 40 miles from here and it's totally free. They supply targets, stands, clays and throwers, safety glasses, hearing protection....pretty much everything but the guns and ammo. Pretty well kept range with 25ft. - 200 yard lanes and plenty of them.

Yes it is. But I'm on the beaches and that is about an hour away.

That's understandable. I lived near the airport and just shot around 295. Took me about 25 minutes.

What's the one at Atlantic and University called now. Used to be Southside Gun and Bullseye Indoor Range. I think his wife got that shop in the divorce and renamed it. Or did the ATF close it?
