you had the opportunity to do your life over. Anytime period ,any occupation, any place, what would you choose for yourself?

Disclaimer; I am very blessed and very happy with my life. With the close of an old year and the beginning of a new one sometimes day dreams creep in (Aided by several cups of Milk Punch I am sure):D

Mine, if I could choose another, would have been to have served as a Texas Ranger in the 1930s to 1950s time period.

The absolute pinnacle of the LE profession in my mind.

My very best wishes to some really great folks who inhabit these pages for a wonderful 2012!

I'm pretty happy...but I would liked to have been born 20 minutes sooner.

Okay...if I had to pick, probably the 40s so I could have been a tv writer out here in california in the 60s....plenty of fun shows....loads of pretty women...and not crowded....except with free loving beach blondes...

Even though I enjoyed my LE career, looking back, with the knowledge that I have saltwater in my veins, I wish I had looked into a long-term stint with the US Coast Guard.

I have a cousin that was a Texas Ranger. Drove a plush car, had a super job.

Under the conditions you tendered:

I would have married someone else. Remained in college the rest of my life. Bought a lot of property many years ago. Went on more vacations through out my life.

Most of all, I wouldn't have have sold many of the guns I did.

I have the best job in the world (police detective/investigator) Only thing is it took me 40 years to figure out I should be a cop. I can only assume God didn't think me ready until after 27 years in the industrial X-Ray and inspection industry, go figure. That being said I too think being a cop in the 30s would have been awsome.

I'd love to get a do over starting about 13, in my own time. I'd have payed a lot more attention in math class, to the math and the girl that set next to me. Both turned out more attractive later in life.

I'd have more than 3 kids. My littlest guy turns 15 soon. It sure would be nice to have a couple of younger ones following him.

I would've pursued a science degree shortly after high school instead of waiting almost 20 years.

I would like to go back with some modern equipment and spare parts. Of course its impossible, but I would want a good ATV and gas and tires spotted all over and tour the country all through time. I would want cameras and video equipment to tape and interview past presidents, generals etc or just common people and past ancesters that no photographs were taken because cameras werent invented yet. Tape civil war and indian battels etc.
More realisticly, I would fly for a liveing as a bush pilot. In any case, I would need better genes to be healthier and even qualify for some of that stuff. I probley flunked a dozzen physicals for the military and LE jobs. Guess I am just a lemon.

Nada Nothing!
I'm very pleased with my life. I have the greatest wife in the world, better than I deserve, a few really good friends, more than decent health for a 63 y/o, all the toys any sane man needs, and a few bucks in the bank.

Even if I wanted to change, why make myself crazy thinking about something that could never happen.

Happy New year All...

I am pleased with my life. I would have loved to have the genetics to play Professional Baseball in the 80's but am satisfied with the person that I am.

I like to cite the champion bodybuilder who, when asked how he had developed such powerful, well defined legs replied:
"I was very careful in choosing my parents."

Instead of hiding out in college for years, and finally entering law enforcement where I served for 27 years, I should have joined the military and become a helicopter pilot. My one big regret is not having served in the armed forces.

I would have listened to the Deputy that arrested me at 14 for B&E. Things turned out alright in my life only by the grace of God. Trust me, it was close. I'm very blessed with a great wife, three children, eleven grandchildren, and a great job:)

I would like to have been a Texas Ranger as well. The best of the best IMO and I say that with nothing but the utmost respect for all LEO's.

I would have been born in late 1955, gone into law enforcement, come out and gone into construction, married a beautiful woman with four sons, had 7 grandkids.....oh, wait, that already happened!

I would have............ oh wait that is illegal...........so I would have...........no wait that is illegal too! LOL

I guess just live the boring life I have except I would have punched my FIL out and told him to keep his theving hands away from me.
