I do like the style of the stags, with bark....and I can see how they would help with "gripability" as opposed to smooth ones. But, I just can't get past the COLOUR ! The whitish colour of them just puts me off.....it just looks wrong to me...

If they were the same brownish colour as the "bark" areas throughout....that would be different. I suppose that they could be dyed or painted...

Oh well, to each his own.

The stags are from Patrick. You are dead wrong about "gripability" with smooth grips. With full magnum loads in this M-19. I have NO issues with these grips. They are nice & thick which gives you a lot of grip surface, without slipping. As far as color that's a personal preference. These grips work VERY well for me.

Here's the other side the grips are not bookend. That is NOT a issue to me. I should do up a matching trigger. So the hammer and trigger finish would match. Since this one is a carry gun. I'm going to leave it as is.

OK, so I am "dead wrong". Actually, I didn't say (or even imply) that the smooth grips created grip problems. I only expressed that it SEEMED to me that the ones with "bark" would HELP with grip. Perhaps not.

No need to get insulted. Geez. Touchy aren't we ?

I'm Not touchy or insulted. Don't read into things or take my comments the wrong way. That was not my intention. I just mentioned my findings. Take it for what it's worth.
This pic shows how thick these grips are. Plenty of surface area to get a good grip on the revolver.

Which is heavier, bone/stag or wood? To clarify the wood being considered should be either walnut or goncoalves.

This is a better pic. The rear view is for myself. So I can get a good look at the hammer. I could put a little more style into the shape. After I reshaped the hammer and did some refinish work on the hammer. Pictures make it easier to see the end results. I did a little reshaping/fitting on the grips. For now this one is ok. Damn I had this 19 apart at least 7 or 8 times. I was tuning the action. Polish, file, tweak, change springs etc. put it all back together dry fire and then repeat. It was well worth it. The action is very smooth.

George,
I took this pic of the rear of the Grashorns to try and capture the color that is in the stocks. The pic really does not show the intricate colors very well. But it was the best I do.

I just got my first set of Grashorn grips in the mail this afternoon. When the sun comes up in the morning I am posting a picture. Amazed at how well they fit. My wife redeemed herself after giving me a tie for my birthday...LOL The grips were a surprise!

Pat Grashorn is one of those craftsman who is at the top of his game! I have bought 2 sets. One of them for my sister-in-law's Model 21-4 she received from us when she graduated Cal State San Marcos.

The other set was for my Colt 357 (Pre-Trooper). Both of them were used with T-Grips.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail are to die for. When I need another set, Pat will get the call. I like mine with no bark and some marbling.

This gun was inscribed with her Spanish nickname (for Isabel). It also has the PC forged teardrop hammer and trigger. I also had her re-blued after a 'black powder' chamfer was added to make it 'old-school'.

It shoots into 1-inch with the Hornady 180gr XTP .44 Special.

Next on my list

19-4.jpg

I didn't use this 19-4 very much because the stag grips didn't allow me to control rapid fire with hot loads as well as I wanted. I added the Tylet Ts and now I have a combination that I feel looks great and shoots great.

I was lucky enougth to pick up a blued 19-3, 2 1/2 inch today. 8K87xxx nice and tight , not perfect but it is mine.
I have been thinking of these since about 1970 when i was pondering my possible trip to SE Asia. I never got there but was deployed east out of Norfolk VA. The funny thing is I wasn't 21 yet. So after all that time I finally came on one today.
I have a pair of stags on my 640 and hope to get some soon for the rb K in the safe.
Thanks for posting the photos.
