I bought a 500 S&W Magnum with the intention of using it for hunting. My question to all of the handgun hunters out there, what type of rounds do you use? I will be hunting primarily deer.

I've got a couple of boxes of 325 grain Fusion rounds. I shouldn't have a problem bringing a deer down with them, but I want to see what all everyone uses.

I use a t/c contender chambered in 30-30. Its sweet for deer hunting with hornady lever revolution 150gr.

How big are the deer you are trying to shoot? 500 seems a little "extreme" imo.

500 bullets

For deer here in Indiana, I use a 400gr lead bullet in my 500 S&W.
thru the revolver or my handi rifle.

I'll be in Iowa, so they're pretty large deer... It's not that extreme when you think about some of the rifles and muzzle loaders out there.

I've got some 350gr and some 400gr lead rounds. Thanks for the input!

I shoot lots of deer with a 45 Colt and a 454 with 250 grain XTP's. Anything you shoot in a 500 will do the job.

Ive used the Hornady 350 XTP's with good results for deer.

Hornady seems to be a popular brand, but most retailers I have been to are wanting $60+ for a box of 20 rounds.

Thanks guys, I figured it wouldn't be an issue. The rounds I have are very similar to a shotgun slug and that's what I've used in the past.
