First of all, hello to everyone! Anyway I picked up my M&P 15-22 yesterday, put 10 rounds of Winchester super x, 10 rounds of CCI minimags. Seems to only cycle 2 or 3 rounds then it will "click", almost like the firing pin is sticking? Is this part of the "break in"? If anyone could explain this to me it would be greatly appreciated! Welcome to the forum.
That is not normal. I can think of a few issues. Is there a round in the chamber? If not you have a failure to feed. Which is usually a magazine issue, maybe not loaded staggered properly. If there is a round in the chamber, after you hear the click then you have a failure to fire check the round for a mark from the firing pin. If there is a mark the primer in the ammo might not be good. If there isn't a mark then something could be jamming the firing pin.
So something is very wrong. Honestly, if this is your very 1st 10 rounds I wouldn't even deal with it. I would bring it back to where it came from and get a replacement.
But if you are comfortable working on guns. look up on youtube how to disassemble the bolt and look for something not right. Maybe a bur from the factory.

I picked up my 15-22 last week. Went to the range Sunday and shot maybe 200 rounds and then it started with the failure to fire. The type of ammo didn't matter. I was getting strikes on the casing but it was not strong/hard enough to fire the bullet. Turns out the pin for the hammer had worked it way out a little so the hammer wasn't striking the firing pin squarely. Miss fires. I didn't think is was actually installed properly. If it was the hammer spring would have kept it in place. But never the less, while I waiting for my M&P to show up I watched a number of videos on the web and one of them was trigger/hammer removal and I recognized the problem pretty quickly once I separated the barrel the trigger assembly. (lack of real/correct terms)

Have a question for the guys with the problems? Did you guys clean and lube your rifles before you shot them? I got mine last month brand new, and it was packed with a thick red grease/protectant. I broke it down, cleaned it with some gun scrubber, and lubed it up with some clp and gun butter, and have not had a single problem. I did have a problem with CCI Tactical ammo till I realized the two boxes I purchased were defective. The bullets were deformed during manufacture and refused to load properly. CCI sent me replacements, and they all shot perfect. I have shot CCI standard velocity, Federal Bulk 550, Federal Auto Match Bulk, CCI mini mags, and a couple hundred winchester x high velocity, and Federal Game Shok. Over 2000 rounds in total and have not had any FTF, FTL, FTE. Call me lucky I guess. Reason I asked about the initial cleaning is when I opened my rifle for the first time I thought to myself, "If you dont clean this stuff out, you are going to have all kinds of problems" !! Good luck correcting your problem as this is a great rifle.

I always at least open a new gun before shooting it. For the 15-22 I replaced the FCG before even shooting it, But the stock stuff looked fine. I removed the bolt group and checked the barrel. I didn't disassemble the bolt. I had no thick grease, everything looked ok, and the firing pin moved freely. So I put a little lube and went shooting. I have a few thousand rounds through mine without a single problem other then the occasional bad .22
The firing pin channel should be completely clean and free of any oil/grease

No thick grease in mine.
However, for inspection reasons I do always field strip, clean and lube my new purchases and check for fit/function issues that may be of concern before taking them to the range.

No grease in mine either. I stripped it, lubed it and shot a few hundred rounds with no problems.

Yes, I did strip and clean but did not notice any red grease, cleaned and lubed reassembled, ran the rounds through it and was not sure if it needed to be "broke in" . May try again today, or should I just take it back?

I told the guys at mt lgs about the grease in mine and they had a hard time believing me. They pulled a new one out of stock and opened the box, and it too had a heavy coating of red lube/protectant on the bcg, the trigger group, and in the bore. Strange nobody else has run into this ... good luck guys, hope all is sorted out.
