New Charging Handle and Bipod Adaptor

Tomorrow I receive my new charging handle and a new bipod adaptor plus a new mounting system to replace my NcStar QD mount. I searched high and low for something that I liked and this is what I came up with. For better pictures of the items on an AR check out the following video. Rod...you make me laugh...I just know that I am going to be able to mount my scope closer to my rifle....and outshoot your backside!!!!! LOL

OK heading over to my Dad's to install a whole handfull of new parts...the gas block is the one that has me most concerned but I have a bottle of blue loctite for the set screws and will post pics when I get done....doing away with the 8-32 scope and going back to the 4-16, whoever said that I may have problems with the reduced field of view was right, hard to find a moving target with such a small FOV. I will post pics or I will have a box of parts that used to be my Sport...LOL

OK I have almost everything installed, the gas block wasn't near as bad as I expected, the trick is to start with a heavier pin punch to get it to start moving then you can punch it right through and one you get it part way it falls right out. getting the rail on the sight perfectly square with the rail on the receiver just takes patience and that little hole in the barrel doesn't look any bigger than the holes that I have seen on MilSurp AR16's, and AR15a3's so I don't know how it can be that much over gassed. Let me get my scope installed and then I will bore sight and then take pictures. But I like it!!! Oh and Blue Loctite should be mandatory on all screws for accessories. Some of the stuff I had installed earlier was starting to come loose. So I bought a fresh new bottle.

Here is my Sport with the new gas block, redone scope mounting, I am back to the 4-16x40 scope and the new charging handle latch. I have learned so much today about how some of this works, seriously that little bitty hole in the barrel is over gassed, the punch that I used for the charging handle latch pin was too big for that hole. I cleaned it out while I was there. I took my time and was very careful, the only change that I have left to make (for a while) will be my new muzzle brake the first of the month. OK here are the pics:







Gonna eat Dinner and then step outside and bore sight it!!!

Unless I misheard, he stated that with the gun shouldered and a cheek weld on the stock, you could pull that special charging handle back to clear a malfunction without breaking the cheek weld.

Nose at the charging handle....must be a very special charging handle indeed.

I just tried it and it came close to my nose but it didnt touch it and not very close but yes I can use my off hand and charge the rifle without breaking my cheek weld. I forgot about that, I was just happy that my cheek weld, the way I am set up now is right inline with the scope and I dont need a riser. And that Charging handle is stout and it really gives a straight back pull.

You just tried it with your nose at the charging handle....that is what I said....and that is how you accomplished it?

Did the Marine Corp stop teaching that shooting style?

I used some Snap-On touch up paint with the fingernail brush applicator. I painted over it trying not to use too much and let it dry for just a bit, wiped it with a paper towel to get as much excess without wiping out the stampings. Let it dry. then I used a Mr. Clean Magic Erasure house cleaning kinda pad to buff off the excess while leaving the stampings filled. That is exactly how I did it. You could use the little bottles of car touch up paint like you get at wall mart to do the same thing as long as your using a good enamel paint. No trick to it.

I dont know I was in quite a while back. I never did put my nose on the charging handle and they never questioned my shooting style. But I can have my Sport on its bipod and charge it with my left hand now without loosing my sight picture. Although usually when I set it up to shoot I have already charged it and put it on safe.
