There has been some discussion in the 1961 to 1980 Forum about nickel 44 Specials so I decided to show mine. I have been told that there are probably 10 nickel guns and 2 nickel engraved guns but not sure if that's accurate. Mine has a Red Post Front Sight and was shipped on February 3, 1953. I have seen three other nickel guns - two had red ramps and one had a plain Patridge front sight.

Not much of a box but I believe it is original.

Dick, That's one fine looking work of art.
Thanks for posting the pictures and sharing.

Very cool.

Now I have seen one.

But 12 known? This is one of those "Yeah, they made them, but...." cases.

Hi
I have the 44 Nickel with the Plain front sight it has the orginal box like dicks. Mine was shipped July 9 1954. it is in 99% condition like Dicks.
Sorry no Pictures it is packed to go to Denver and Boise in my display.
I agree with Dick there are no more than 10 made. Because in the last
35 years I can only account for 6 that I know of. And have only had the
chance to look at and inspect 3.

Hey, can I play? I've got one that's a dead ringer for the one pictured. I bought it maybe 10 or 12 years ago from Ray Brazille at the Louisville show. He skinned me, as usual, but I wanted the gun. I haven't bothered to letter it, but its an S103,085 gun. I've never heard the estimate of the number produced, but its OK with me if y'all shout that number from the hilltops.

I'm still lookin' for a 2nd Model 4" and another 4", a postwar 3rd model "military". It ain't easy have'n all these "wants" and not finding the stuff very often.

Dick, That's an oustanding gun. The exposed pins and the red post on the front sight really set the gun off. Great pics too.

Dick,
Beautiful gun! Too bad folks didn't realize back then how beautiful these guns are and had more built!

I just about lost control of some of my bodily functions.
I think I have a new "most gorgeous" S&W I've ever "seen".
