Two Gun B-B-Q Rig For A Six Year Old Texas Ranger

I just finished this rig for a texas six year old. The badges and indian head nickles (below bullet loops) represent his likes as expressed to me by his dad. I never met them and just hope the rig fits. I used that pillow as a model since it measured exactly 26" like the boy's hips and seems shaped right to use for the pattern. Holsters are detachable for Wild Bill Hickok twist draw if desired. Drop loops sewed on so they can be repositioned later as he grows. I sure hope it fits!

Man oh man what I wouldn't have given for a rig like that when I was his age. I carried a Lone Ranger rig, but it was made out of some kind of plastic or nylon.

Heck I'd be plumb proud to wear that rig today.. Course it would be around one leg.

I purchased a Fanner 50 Marshal set when I was a kid and thought it was the cats meow. After looking at that rig I am now depressed.

Yeah, me too, I'd have loved a custom rig like that when I was six. It's beautiful. But I'd have asked for a single, left-handed holster, which were very scarce in 1955. I was real happy with my Rin Tin Tin and Rusty cavalry holster set--it was a left-hand draw.

I still have that holster, but not the belt, cartridge pouch or shoulder strap. Immediately upon receipt, I took some black model airplane dope and painted over the picture of RTT&R on the holster flap. It look inauthentic.

Iggy, when you and I were that young plastic and nylon were still military secrets.........ours were pressed cardboard of some short.............I never had a two gun rig which was OK since Gene Autry was my guy anyhow. I used to shoot on the Lackland AFB, TX pistol team against Texas Rangers, Texas Dept of Safety (Highway Patrol) guys and some real tough charactors who were Texas liquor agents. I would ride the range with any of them and it sounds like the young man who will receive the OP rig is on the right track. Keep shootin Young Man and check 6

That is one beautiful twin rig. Looks nice and thick too. Not like the thin store bought cap gun ones we had as kids that didn't hold up long. You do great work. That is going to be one happy little hombre.
