Have not fired my new shield 9mm yet but having trouble loading more than 5 rounds in the 8 round mag. Anyone else having trouble?

I had trouble getting the last round in the mag until I shot it a few times and broke it in. It will loosen up. Best thing to get is the uplula which will help a great deal. I add one round by hand and then use the uplula for the rest - no more issues.

I use a Butler Creek UpLULA mag loader for all my pistolas and especially my Shield - No problem at all getting the last few rounds in the mag. Best money I ever spent...

not that I have heard, I havent. Are you loading by hand or with some sort of loader. The first few times the new mags can be really tight. Is it really hard to push?

The 8 rounder is a bi*#h to get the last few rounds in. Do you own a Shield?

Does the 8rd mag have an even longer spring than the 7rd? Reason I ask is although I don't have a Shield yet, I did buy an extra 7rd mag in anticipation and the mag was pretty easy to load by just using my thumb. The last round was the hardest but no difference than many other brand new mags.

ETA: You may also want to take apart the magazines and clean them inside and out even if they're brand new. When I got my 7rd mag, it had a light semi-sticky residue that you couldn't see, but could defiantly feel. The cloth I was using to clean went from white to black in no time.

Both mags were inspected/cleaned before the first range trip - Standard practice for all my new pistolas. Good suggestion, just the same - Maybe others will adopt the practice.

During the initial inspection/cleaning of the mags, I never considered comparing the length of the springs. Assumed the 8 rounder was slightly longer. Just took them apart and the springs are the same length - Kinda surprised as the 8 rounder seems the more difficult to fully load as I posted earlier. Go figure...
