Trying to Value Model 10 Never fired

Dusty and Ken:
I know - it's been hard not to shoot that baby, but it is my birthyear gun and I want to preserve it - at least for now. The bluing is incredible and the grips are perfect.

Maybe if I live to be 100 or something, I'll shoot it before I pass it along to my son.

As a Son whos Father hunted, I know from experience a gun my Father liked & used has more value to me than one he might have kept in the safe all it's life. But that's me.

Thanks FrankV. That is important and I understand the sentiment. But I've got LOTS of guns, both for hunting and for just shooting and they'll be passed along. This is the only one that's never been shot - at least for now.

Sell it!

If you're never planning to shoot it - sell it to a collector and get something you will shoot!

I shoot them all, that's why I'd never buy a LNIB revolver - if given one I'd take it to the range immediately and shoot it!

Seriously - I've seen some fairly unimpressive Smith and Wesson revolvers at local gunshows for steep prices. Seems like you ought to be able to get $500 for it - then go buy that Glock. You'll be happy and the collector who buys it will be happy too.

I seen a model 10 in a local pawn shop Saturday. It looked like it had been fired 1million times with hardly any blue left on it and the lady was like. I'll take 300 out the door. I looked at because, I never pass on looking at a used Smith. But I also was laughing in my mind that was way overpriced. IMO that was a maybe a $150 gun.
