This topic may already be on this M.B. but I haven't found it yet.

Do you carry extra magazines when you Conceal Carry your pistol ?

Whats the best way to carry extra magazine(s) ? Loose in a pocket, or a belt mounted magazine holster ?

Some pistol holsters have provision for carring an extra magazine or two.

Just wondering if you make it a priority have extra loaded mags.

I usually do. Especially if im carrying a single stack. i have a blackhawk ss mag holder that just clips on my belt. When i rock the glock 19, i havent been. When i have the 38 special, i carry a couple speedloaders.

I dont but should. My gun holds 18 rounds fully loaded, but if the spring breaks Im holding a 2 shot paper weight.

Depends where I'm going. Into or thru Detroit, two mags in a paddle pouch if I'm carrying my 1911 or FS M&P. Normal conditions/activities, one extra with the Compact9 or Shield because that's what came with them. Three speed strips with my wheelgun.

I alway's carry one or two reloads auto or revolver.

Your gun without cartridges is nothing more than an expensive bludgeon.

No, but on occasion I've carried a spare pistol. Most of the time I'm carrying I can depend on my wife to provide cover fire if needed.

Usually I do more so for topping off "after" or dealing with malfunctions rather than capacity. Comp-tac makes a good clip on kydex mag holder and Desantis has a good inside the pocket one. DON'T buy one of those holsters with the magazine pouch attached to it. It complicates the reloading procedure unnecessarily.

I think I should always carry one extra magazine, or for the revolver a couple of speed strips. But often I just carry what's in the gun. When I carry my Beretta that's 13+1, which is not bad. The 5 shots in the revolver are way better than nothing but make shot placement critical. There is no perfect answer to how many rounds are enough. If the fight is over and you have a round left you brought enough.

I don't need any extra magazines. I get one from the NRA, one from the MOA, one from USAA, one from AUSA, and one from the VVEC.

The minimum number of reloads I carry is two SpeedStrips.

I have not carried an Auto Loader in quite some time, but when I did I always carried 1 extra loaded magazine. Now that I carry a Revolver, I always carry at least one extra reload on me and another in the car.

When carrying just a handgun, I always had two reloads, minimum. Magazines, speed loaders, speed strips, even dump pouches back in the dark ages.

I know all the gun fight statistics, the need-based logic, and so on. I have also met Mr. Murphy more than once, and I hate him laughing at me.;)

I carry one extra magazine on my belt in a very handy Gerber multi-tool pouch, I picked up a couple off of eBay for under $10 and they work great.

When CC'ing

1911's with magwell get ETM's in pistol and one in #17
1911's without magwell get 47D's in pistol and one in #17
Revolvers with one speedstrip with #rds that revolver holds

For whatever I am CC'ing that day there is always an (1) extra reload, be it ETM's/47D's/Speedstrips, in my vehicle or whatever vehicle I happen to be driving that day.

At home, forget it. All magazines/speedstrips/speedloaders are loaded for every firearm.

Depends where I'm going. Into or thru Detroit, two mags in a paddle pouch if I'm carrying my 1911 or FS M&P. Normal conditions/activities, one extra with the Compact9 or Shield because that's what came with them. Three speed strips with my wheelgun.

When I go through Detroit, I carry all the above at once plus an AR-15 and two 30 rd. mags.:D

In actuality, I always carry at least one full reload.

I only carry an "extra" magazine when I think there's a reason to, and it's loaded with FMJ. However, I consider a second and third mag loaded with the primary (HP) ammo as part of the basic rig, so the "extra" I'm talking about is a fourth mag. It is usually carried in a pocket. The 2nd & 3rd mags are carried in mag holders on my belt.

Just a thought to remind us- most of us have extra mags, and keep them loaded. No, this isn;t about springs- it's about ammo.
I keep my SD mags loaded with HPs, obviously, but I have some others mostly used for the range- loaded with FMJs. (I number them, duct tape on the base in case FTFs etc, will know which mag might be guilty.)
I usually take all the mags to the range with me- I used to just fire the first few rounds from a SD mag, then re-load to practice with FMJs. Someone here, I think, told me I oughta fire the lAST few rounds of SD ammo in the SD mags, too, cause the last round or two can show you there's a problem.
Anyway, the main thing is, I guess rotating- and using- the mags. After practice I reload with the SD HPs, but can't tell if they're the same ones or not, cause I keep ammo in tupperware bowls. ith one of those lil moisture-absorbing [packets you get outa some stuff.
