I was reading an article in a recent gun rag that said the Kimber Solo may be the best CC 9mm ever.

As a faithful 3913LS owner, I laugh.

I will join you in laughing at the "solo". :)

The 3913 series is the finest, most reliable, accurate, easily concealed single stack 9mm made, by anyone.

That Kimber Solo is just another overpriced, overhyped, single shot Kimber. Regards 18DAI

I would add the word "significant" to the 3913 single stack because it holds 8 +1

i wponder how they compare in size. i too would trust my 3913 or my 3953 s over a solo cause i know that i can count on them to save my butt. but i do wonder how they compare in size

In my opinion ( as a 3953 owner) the only single stack nine that can measure up is the P7M8

The 3913 is the most reliable semiauto I've ever shot. I've handled the solo and it is noticeably smaller and somewhat lighter, but haven't heard about it's reliability.

I'd have to carry either one in a holster, so I'd rather have the 3913; it's easy to conceal and the weight is barely noticeable when hung from a belt.

I traded a 6906 for my 3913NL and never once regretted it. It was my duty gun for 7 or 8 years; I shot quarterly plus all-day sessions once a year, and the occasional range visit to show my son who's the better shot. Always reliable!

Kimber solo the best ever huh? Not for my $. I know I can rely on my CS9 and my Shield 9 to go bang EVERY TIME! Reports I have read about the Solo don't give me that same reassurance. Thanks, I'll stick with any of my S&W's over a Kimber. Wish I had a 3913, if I "needed" any more S&W's, it would definitely be on my list.

Since I got my 3913 I carry it everywhere. Something about it just makes me feel secure.

I love my former every day carry the 9c, but something about the 3913 makes me feel real good.

Great string. I looked for a 3913 for a year and couldn't fine one at shows. Finally bumped into a 908 LNIB and grabbed it. Carry it daily - love it - it's ner skipped a beat. I got hooked on 3rd Gen's and am now up to 3 (908, 6906, 4586). I'll bump into the right deal on a 3913 at some point and grab it too, as it's still on the list. The 3rd gen's are exceptional weapons. Interesting as I just had the Kimber Solo discussion with a guy in a LGS yesterday. All the reviews I read on them were dissappointing. My 908 was half the cost, cycles all types of ammo flawlessly, and wil outperform the Solo anyday. I just don't get Kimber folks

Watched a YouTube review that kinda turned me off. VERY, VERY ammo sensitive. Can't even practice with cheap stuff. For $700 I want a little more versatility! Check out the UTube...

Don't knock what you haven't owned...

Short version:
3913: I own 1. A 3913NL. Compares to Beretta PX4 Storm, Sig 229, Ruger SR9C....
Kimber Solo: I own one. Compares to Kahr PM9, Kel Tec PF9, Sig P938..
You can't compare apples to oranges. What is missing in the Kimber Solo comparison list is a S&W. They don't make a semi auto 9mm in a pocket platform.
I wish they would but they don't.
Solo is a 9mm pocket pistol. I have heard the negative feedback...but try to buy one...they can't be found. SO someone likes them:) I love it. I shoot all kinds of ammo through it with no problems including 115, 124 and 147gr and reloads. It is a SA only striker fired pistol with some 1911 controls. Very accurate, easy to handle, great trigger and well made. You give up round count for conceal ability. So you can bash what you have never fired all you want... but that is not an accurate post if you do. Saying great things about the 3913 is fine.. I agree with you all that it is an awesome carry pistol. But it is not a pocket pistol.
See post I wrote several weeks ago...

If I carry something less that seven rounds, I carry a 6-shot 327 or 32 mag J-Frame. They are better than any Solo.

I pocket carry my Shield 9 with not much problem, short pants and long pants, have even pocketed my CS9 which is roughly the same size as 3913, know many others who do the same. Not sure what constitutes a "pocket platform"...for me it's what is reliable that I can carry comfortably concealed in a pants pocket. S&W may not market any of their guns as "pocket" carry guns but bet you could find literally thousands of members on this site alone who do as I do, i.e., comfortably pocket carry their Smiths.

Not lookin to be disagreeable, just stating facts based on a few years membership this forum and having read numerous posts about members who pocket carry all number of Smiths. The Kimber Solo is a pretty gun though....

Since you started this post by laughing at a Kimber Solo my only question to you is:
1. Did you own one, hate it and sell it?
2. Use a friends and decide that it was a piece of trash?
3. Or just laughing at something to which you have no knowledge of?
Just wondering. If you did one of the 1st 2 listed then by all means post away. if not, why start a post for which you have no experience or data? Just saying...
BTW I have several J frames as well. None shot as smoothly or accurately as the Kimber though. I own a pre 36, 36 no dash and a 642-1. I love them all. So I have intiment knowledge of both J frames and the Kimber Solo.

mbliss57,

Everyone knows the Solo is a piece of MIM trash, fit for nothing more than a paper weight.

Okay I'm kidding :), but now that I have your attention I do have some questions:

1. I've never handled a Solo, but someone I know did so at the Shot Show and he didn't like the trigger. I don't recall why he didn't like it. What are your thoughts about the trigger? How does it compare to a 1911 or is it more like a Kahr?

2. How securely does the safety engage and how easy is it to disengage? It doesn't look like there is much meat to it.
