Great Action of an old gent.

Don't mess around with us old men. We're too old to fight, so we'll just shoot you. His only mistake was not having enough gun. A .45 would have punched much bigger holes.

If there are any charges filed against him, I'll pledge $100 to a defense fund right now.

I'll pledge $25 toward buying him a .45 of some sort. The old dude deserves it!

He has more courage than the most younger folks who where around who stick their hands in the air.
He is my hero.

That made my day, Thuer; thanks so much for posting it.

I think I'll just watch it again.

Andy

P.S. Agreed on needing more gun

Love the contrast between when those two mopes came in--and when they went out!

It was enough gun to make them reassess their priorities... :D

Like the old saying goes, "Never pick a fight with an old man. If he's too old to fight and too tired to run, he'll just kill ya."

I have a .380, and I decided to upgrade to a 9mm for just this reason. The old fellow had guts opening up on an armed robber. I am (kind of) glad the robbers weren't killed and hope in the future they choose a more honest way of getting money. I am impressed that he was able to hit them both. I have seen video of LEOs firing at BGs without effect.

My initial reaction, Yeah, this is how we do it! After veiwing it, I saw a couple things that might come back on the old guy. The bad guys were retreating and he was still firing. Second, one of the patrons covered her ears during the encounter. There are two probable lawsuits, more if any rounds missed and impacted downrange. Kudos to the old guy for taking action, but his backside might still be hanging out.

I agree. The local news is reporting that the old fellow will not face any charges, but I think he got a bit over zealous. It seems like the first shot was enough to stop the thugs. At the same time, it's easy for me to say that now, I wasn't in his shoes.

Are you sure that's an upgrade? If my math is correct a .380 is 9.65 MM which is larger than well 9 mm.

His problem wasn't not enough gun, his problem was where he shot them. Shooting them in the posterior end isn't going to kill them.

The name of the cartridge very often has little or nothing to do with the actual size.

In the case of the 380, it, like the 9mm Parabellum, uses a .355 bullet, but it pushes a 90 grain bullet around eight to nine hundred feet per second, while the 9mm pushes a 115 grain bullet around eleven hundred, or a 124 around a thousand.

So, yes, the 9mm is an upgrade over the 380.

Welcome BP. Before the dogpile, the .380 is exactly the same diameter as the 9mm (in Europe it is known as the 9mm corto or short). It is balistically inferior to the 9mm however. Joe
