CO movie theater shooting

I'm seeing statements like the above in other forums.

It's just the same AHSA false flag propaganda they peddled here and elsewhere until their funding from the anti-gun groups collapsed.

Unless you're willing to BAN almost ALL firearms from general citizen ownership, you're NEVER going to "get in front of this". That is the goal. You either capitulate to it or stand and fight. Capitulation is obviously your preference.

There is no more chance of gun owners "compromising" with anti-gunners than there was of Jews compromising with Adolf Eichmann. One side's goals are absolute and immutable. The destination is set in stone, only the path and the timetable are subject to temporary alteration.

ANY new gun control?

Not no, HELL NO.
As I have pointed out many times there are 256 shades of gray between Black and White. To try and define this discussion to "stand and fight" or "capitulate" is just about as black and white as it can be.

So, no...capitulation is not my choice...Neither is being obstinate and letting the other side define the rules.

Just a comment: Since the 1st of the year there's been well over 200 shot and killed in Chicago. Deaths are up 50% over last year. Probably 2-3 times that number wounded. On Memorial WE there were 40 shootings and 12 killed. June 9th WE there were 30 shot 10 dead. These are just "highlights". There is not a day that goes by without at least 6 shootings and 2 -3 deaths. Kids as young as 2 have been killed. Gangs have moved to AK's.
I was really not shocked by the recent theater shootings. There's way to many of the wrong people with guns out there. There's way too many "assault weapons" out there. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?
Again... it is not the choice in tools, but the people using them.

Doesnt sound like the higher capacity firearms are doing any more harm than I could with a lever action .44 and a 1911.
The guns are not the problem... it is the people.

I believe cmort nailed it, there's no dealing with the devil:

"There is no more chance of gun owners "compromising" with anti-gunners than there was of Jews compromising with Adolf Eichmann. One side's goals are absolute and immutable. The destination is set in stone, only the path and the timetable are subject to temporary alteration."

I'm sure everyone's heard about the UN Treaty thing. The NRA is really pounding my email box about it, I just wonder if it's that serious. Now I've heard the libs say "Obama hasn't done anything to guns, why do you think he will?" Obviously, he couldn;t or he wouldn;t get re-elected. Once he's a lameduck he most certainly will come after guns. He said so himself, just like he can be more 'flexible with Putin.
But the treaty, obama will sign it, no surprise. The Senate AS IT STANDS would not allow it. But what if the next election changes the numbers in the Senate? How worried do yall think we should be?

Lind is not an historian...he has a degree in Hisory...two different things. An Historian would not begin a thesis with "How did that America become the sleazy, decadent place we live in today"...then prattle on for what seems like hours to defend his preconceived notion.

Pretty much sums it up doesn't it. An enlightening read. And just to add my 2 cents, the spawn of evil also has his hand in it to a big degree.

It is becoming clear this murderer is a violent ultra left wing radical. Occupy Black Bloc has already claimed him as one of theirs.

And if you look at his tactics and target, it makes sense. The movie is an attack on the radicals.

I didn't know anything about the new Batman movie, but it is said to paint the "Occupy" folks in a bad light, and the movie villain is an Occupy type person.

This was a terrorist attack along the lines of the Weather Underground et al during the 60s.

LEOs, please take care and research the Occupy Black Bloc group, they definitely have an agenda.

We'd all like to think that "had someone been carrying" they may have been able to short circuit this fruitloop's agenda. But given that he had prepared so well, with all the tac gear and soft armor, I think it unlikely that any of us could have intervened decisively with a handgun. However, I also think that "bullet-proof vest" notwithstanding, if someone in that theater could have bounced some 230 grain hardball rounds off of his chest, he may have been forced to accept the idea that some of us aren't going to go easily. And it certainly wouldn't have helped his accuracy any.
And, oh yeah, the theater's "no-guns" policy means nothing to me, either.

First of all my deepest sympathy to all the families of the victims.

Assault weapons, as so many people call them, had nothing to do with this terrible incident. The AR just happened to be one of the tools this lunatic used.

Remington makes a self loading sporting rifle, 7400 I believe it is, and 10 rd mags are available for it. The guy could have used that. Once the first mag is gone, the crowd is panicked, he could stand there and reload many times and kill many more.

The problem is not the tools he used, are 870 pumps and Glock going to be banned also. If all guns are banned the criminally insane will still be able to obtain firearms.

The gun laws in Chicago prove this point every day.

Justice should be swift and sure.

We are only preaching to the choir here. The left waits for these bad things to happen for propaganda purposes. Conversly, this should also be a strong call for gun ownership. We all can give the same old cliches like the left can give theirs.
To understand these people you have to know their true ajenda as to the real reason they dont want us to have guns. It is for the exact opposite reason of the 2nd amendment. They want as many guns as possible out of circlelation when they get power so they can push all their devilish ideas through without being ran off. The truth means absolutely nothing to them and you arent going to change any one of their minds.
We are only spinning our wheels argueing with them. The way to fight them is with your vote and to let our canidates know what we expect or we will vote them out next time.

One thing I see possibly coming out of this is a reversal of the regulaton allowing for non dealers to order ammunition. Prior to 86 ammunition could only be shipped to a FFL, one of the primary reasons I got an FFL in 82 was to order ammunition.

Internet ammo sales are going to take a hit here.

Keep in mind, the guy reportedly "only" fired about 100 rounds, so the fact that he supposedly ordered 6000 or so rounds "on the Internet" doesn't really mean much in the overall scheme of things.

I'd wager there are more than handfull of folks on this forum that have way more than 6000 rounds at their disposal, but so what?

Remember, the gun control crowd will use any and all irrational arguments to push their agenda. Don't submit to their line of illogical reasoning with the ammo sales bogey man.

And you honestly think that will make a difference in how this is reported in the media?

"Ultimately we don't have a crime problem or a gun problem or even a violence problem -- what we have is a SIN problem! And since we ordered God out of our schools, our communities, the military and public conversations, we really shouldn't act so surprised when all hell breaks loose!!!"

Gov. Mike Huckabee has an interesting view on the event.

As a gun owner and a somewhat vocal proponent of CCW rights, I must remind myself that the whole world is watching. This is not a time for me to get on any soapbox and rattle my saber.

This is a tragedy on a big scale. Men, women and children senselessly gunned down while in a movie theatre.

I have been asked what I would have done had I been there. My response is that I would have hid, fled, or died as I could not legally have carried my gun.

"Yeah but what if..."

Moot point. I am a law abiding citizen. If I were there I would not have had a gun. Period.

Just because it doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme doesn't mean the Liberal media won't use it to their advantage. They have managed to demonize black rifles that has no more capability than one with wood stocks.

In the wacky world of the anti gun crowd making sense isn't a requirement.

In NJ I can't buy any rifle that has the letters AR stamped on it but I can buy pretty much the same rifle if they leave the letters off.

That's the anti gun lobby at it's finest.

Bloomberg is on TV now saying people able to buy guns ammo etc, blah blah. Not supposed to sell guns to wack jobs or underage folks.

HEY....the feds sold/allowed "assult weapons" to the Mexican cartels and this process ended up with a rifle that was used to kill one of our Boarder Patrol guys. How about the news folks grilling Holder on violating guns laws!

Lets not do the anti`s thinking for them! To start with, no matter how foolish or unrealistic any more laws or regulations they want to come up with that do nothing, they still see it hopefully as a means of discourageing gun ownership even if the law or regelation can be got around with more cost and hoops to jump through. If there was no gun crimes for comeing years they still would be looking for more restrictive laws and regulations to make untill they have a socalistic dictatorship with no voteing or elections allowed. Thats the true thinking at the top that we are dealing with here. The real battle they are fighting for is the votes of people that are easily led and hasnt been around guns or even thought one way or another about it. Most intellegent older people have had their minds made up on both sides of politics long ago and all of the campaineing and lieing wont change those votes. It`s all for the young first time voters and the ignorant.
