Have any of you tried the FIST leather holsters? I am looking for the #17 or 17A model IWB holster in leather for a S&W Shield. If any of you have tried one of their holsters, do you have any feedback?

These appeal to me because you are able to interchange mounts.

By the way, do you recommend the body protector on holsters? More times than not, I will have some kind of tee-shirt between skin and the gun/holster.

I had one of their 1A's for my P7....good holster. The leather didn't wrap around, it was two flat pieces, so it was fairly thin in the pants...

FIST Holsters

Would you buy another one of their holsters? Did you think the leather thickness was good or bad? Did you think it was or would be durable and last a long time? Given how much leather holsters are, if I am going to spend money I would like to know if it's going to last or not.

They are well made with good leather. I would buy another but lately, I have been getting my holsters from members on this forum.

Do a search here for iwb holsters and you'll see some nice stuff from bell charter oak and lobo gunleather....both forum members,

Fist leather holsters

The Fist #19 IWB leather holster is my absolute favorite every day carry holster for anything larger than a snubby. They are very well made and let me comfortably carry and effectively conceal a medium to large frame semi (1911s, Beretta 92fs, M &Ps, Walthers and Sigs) or revolver (K, L, & N frames with 4in bbls) for as much as 12-18 hours at a time. I have one for every medium to large gun that I own, and that I might decide to carry concealed.

The #19 has the strap loops offset from the body of the holster for enhanced concealment, but the straps are placed as close to the holster as practical, as opposed to out on "wings". This works well for thinner folks and for carry at the 3:00 - 3:30 position.

My preference is black leather with body protector and snap straps for fastening to my belt.

They have been my mainstay holsters for my primary carry gun(s) for many years now.

Additionally I have found Jim to be willing to work with me on any special requests or needs or unusual guns that I might have.

Another custom holster maker I have been most impressed with is lobo leather. Ray is a member of this forum and does very fine work at a reasonable price.

Good luck!

Fist

I have a Fist IWB that I liked very much. Good leather with the shield (get it) and the fit was quite tight.

I got the adjustable cant and wouldn't recommend that. The screws would loosen up and they eventually pulled through the leather slits. To their credit, Fist took it back and fixed it--I would have preferred the clip sewn in place instead of new screws but they weren't able to do that. I didn't put lock tite on the new screws and they became loose again.

While it was away, I came across a great deal on a barely used Milt Sparks and began using that.

I would buy another one without hesitation as long as it wasn't adjustable.

I have Two Fist Inc holsters for my G-36 I've had them for a while so I don't remember the numbers but I THINK the OWB is the #8 shortcut. No idea what the number is for the shoulder holster rig but The quality of both is terrific. I love the shoulder rig because it is a vertical carry and there is no thumb strap or anything. It uses "dimple" behind the trigger guard area for retention. Easy one handed draw and reholster.

They will work with you on any special need or concerns you might have and as an added bonus (at the time I got mine) the turn around time was less than half of their competition.

I have a FIST #8 Shortcut.Ordered it for a Glock 19,but it works just as well with a G17 or a G26. It was very tightly boned and required breaking in.I consider that good. Open bottom. I don't like all of their designs but the product line is quality made,at least in the leather models.
Prices are good,also.

I have multiple Fist holsters. All are quality holsters. I really like their ultra thin kydex models for iwb.

Sorry, but I only have one experience with FIST.

They made a paddle holster for my Colt CCO.

I had to wait over 2 months to get it, but that was really no big deal.

I didn't like the design or the quality. Although it cost $150, it was nowhere near the quality of my Adams Leather pancake.

Without any hassle they gave me a refund when I returned it.
