Picked up 100 rounds of this stuff at my local gun store today and got it for what i think is ridiculously cheap(8.50) per box of 50. Is their a reason its so cheap. It seems to be decent stuff. is it super underpowered or something any input is appreciated.

It is their economy line (yellow or green/white box?) Works just fine as a target load, usually has a FMJ or RNL bullet.

I've been serially disappointed by all manner of Remington ammo... Personal experience only, I'm sure there are exceptions, I'm of the opinion that Remington should continue to concentrate their efforts on riflery only. Good luck, regardless.

@ Arquebus12 What do you prefer as a target ammo. I had to switch from pmc bronze...it just didnt work for me. Our range officer swears by Winchester white box. But i hear negatives about it as well.

I expect that was 9mm Parabellum you purchased. I've shot a good bit of the 250 packs of the UMC ammo in 40 S&W and 45 ACP recently and about the only deficit I can report is that the primers are a bit harder to ignite than Federal or Speer ammo's. BTW, I have 610 and 625 revolvers that were tuned to function perfectly with the Federal and Speer ammo's but had to re-tune the triggers for the Remington. Other than that I've found nothing at all wrong with the UMC target loads, accuracy is quite good and while it's a bit dirtier than the Federal it's not nearly as dirty to shoot as WWB.

Bottomline, at that price I would have done my best to buy out the store. Unfortunately all my 9mm handguns are 38 caliber revolvers and I'm sure you didn't find any 38 spl. at that price, it's normally about double 9mm parabellum.

PSS: if you found that bargain at Fin, Feather, and Fur I'm not surprized. Just wish they would open a store in Michigan because I only get on to their ammo bargains when visiting family in Ohio.

I've shot hundreds of UMC 115 FMJ 9MM with 100% reliability and good accuracy. That is a very good price, about 33% discount.

You nailed it at fin feather and fur. they usually always have good deals their. It is 9mm luger. they had 38 and 357. 12.95 for the 38 and 13 somthin for the 357...not bad at all for my location. I will be goin back today to pick up six more boxes.

just a quick update of the ammo...I took the ammo to an leo range day today and was surprised at how well it actually worked. out of 100 rounds i report zero failures out of my Glock 17(i know blasphemy on this forum). It was actually pretty snappy didn't seem loaded like typical target ammo...so all in all I'm pleased

On and off for the last 4 or so years, and when ammo was short on supply, when I found UMC 9x19, I bought it when it was priced well. My Glocks have never faultered on any UMC or any other brass for that matter. I also thought it had a bit more pep to it then WWB, just my observation.

The last Rem-UMC that I shot was the yellow box and it was better than many other comparable loadings. Out of a 3" it clocked over 1000fps

The cheapest commercial 9mm ammo in my area is currently the wal-mart federal at 11.97 a box(if its in stock), at the LGS the cheapest is 18.50 for S&B and the cheapest GHB brand (garage, home-built) runs about 7.50 a box at today's component prices ... so you did real good.

I like the UMC hollow points in 9mm and 40sw. They're pretty hot and pretty accurate too.

Yea, they're pretty too. LOL

I went back to the store today and picked up 6 more boxes of the stuff...i thoroughly enjoyed shooting it. It was accurate and never failed. Was a little bit dirty but nothing old hoppes couldn't fix. By the way guys check out another thread on here about cabelas ammo sales that are goin on right now. The deals aren't half bad.

That's a pretty good price. I've found Remington UMC 250rd packs at WallyWorld for $60, not nearly as good as the deal you found.

I bought a few of the 250 max packs when they were $50 something at WallyMart. It was good ammo but the packaging wasn't very good. The inside trays were smashed, and each box probably 20 or so rounds had the bullets pushed in. I went back to spending a little more and not buying bulk packs.

IMO $8.50/box for 115gr 9mm ammo isn't all that great a price. It would be even better if it were back @$6/box like before the "shortage" 4 years ago...

@ArchAngelCD Have you bought ammo in the past couple of years...9mm for under 10 a box us usually pretty decent...I suppose i'm not old enough to remember when ammo was ridiculously cheap.

Sure it would be better, but it isn't. It would be even better if ammo was $8/100 like when I started shooting.
