So many holsters!

I am sure that this topic has been completely beaten to death, but what are some of your favorite brands of holsters?

I just took my CCW class today, so in the next coming month I will need to be looking at buying a holster.

I have been looking at the Comp-Tac MTAC or CTAC holsters. I am pretty sure I am going to want to carry 4 o'clock.

Any other suggestions from you guys?

For IWB I prefer hybrids like MTAC, CB, Foxx. Now I'm using a Red Holster, very comfortable and well manufactured at half of the price of CB or MTAC.

My favorite holster? Well, after blowing all kinds of money on impractical, hard to conceal, uncomfortable holsters, I favor the Theis tuckable Holster. It is very well done, durable, very comfortable and I can't say enough good things about it.

I've owned several and there are many good, high-quality holster makers out there but my preferred is Raven Concealment Systems. Their Phantom modular holster is simply brilliant. Depending on the belt hardware you order, it goes from an OWB to an IWB in just a few moments. I use mine for both daily carry and IDPA competitions and I can't talk well enough about how good of a holster it is. I own one for my Glocks and one for my M&Ps and have a 2nd one in a slightly different configuration and color on order for my M&P45s plus their magazine carriers. They have a majority of their styles available for quick ship; just remember that each holster is custom made to order so there is a slight waiting period and that initially put me off, but after owning and using their product for so long I can't imagine using anything else. I don't have many holsters, but I sure like the full leather ones I do have. Something about the look and feel of leather, and the way it wears and molds to me.... I'd like to see some really fine leather holsters in person. Some can cost almost as much as the gun!

if you want easy to find off-the-shelf, Galco KingTuk IWB. I carry a fullsize 1911 in it and dont even notice that it's there. Oh, I'm 5'6" 150lbs and just wear a t-shirt over it.

A week ago some liberal relatives visited me and the two days that we were walking, driving, and carrying my little niece around. They did not even notice that I was carrying my 1911 the whole time. The picture on their faces was priceless when they found out.

Most of my herd rides in Milt Sparks VM-2's or Kramer #3. There are some DeSantis, Bianchi, Gould & Goodrich, Galco and Brommelands in the box as well. Mostly leather...No hybrids...and a few kydex but only a few.
Some are OWB, some are IWB, and some are paddle holsters all depending on what I want and or need.

It's a pleasure. As I said before I love those holsters and the price is unbeatable, you don't have to wait for having them and if you want something more personal is just $ 5.00 more for engraving your name.

Pictures are worth a thousand words!

I have four holsters for the Shield40 I have. One is a Minotaur MTAC which I am wearing right now with my M&P Shield in it! I first bought a Black Hawk Check six which is an OWB behind the back holster that conceals real well with an untucked shirt, I also have but seldom use for the range a cheap Galco OWB with a thumb break. I first ordered a Crossbreed Super Tuck and used it for a couple of weeks but was not 100% satisfied with it and there fore the reason I am now back to my second Minotaur MTAC made for the Shield!

Here is a comparison although not the greatest photographic quality in the world between the Crossbreed Super Tuck and the Minotaur MTAC:

To me buying a second MTAC to accommodate my Shield was a no brainer. I am now gonna do one of two things with my Crossbreed either take it to the local gun store and sell it or offer it here on this forum.

As you can see from the photos the size difference and comfort difference plus ease of putting on the MTAC vice the Crossbreed, and the overall attention to detail like finished leather on both sides of the holster make owning an MTAC a wise choice indeed with many facts to back up my opinion.

That's why this world is so wonderful, there are colors and flavors for everybody. I sold my M-TAC precisely for the same thing you like it. I feel it was made so comfortable with leather on two sides that was too bulky for concealment, at least here in South Florida where is summer almost all year we have to wear very light clothing and the M-TAC made my carry gun print easily.

I got the RKBA leather for the Shield. I would recommend one but they take over 6 weeks to get one. It fits really well and does not print even with a lite T shirt on. Very comfortable to wear also .

I have been leaning toward the MTAC or the CTAC really. The MTAC I am not sure of because it looks thick and bulky. I am a small slender guy. 5'6" and 125 lbs.

The only 2 holsters I own and are very comfortable are the White Hat Holsters Max Tuck which I carry my 9c or my 45c in and my Remora that I carry my 9c in. I think I am going to try and find a good concealable OWB for winter carry.
