Cheap beer *A rant*

I guess I misunderstood the original post. I thought it was pretty humorous and didn't understand it's hurtful nature. Sometimes I just don't take things seriously enough.
For me, I like beer. Sometimes I drink Bud, sometimes i drink micro-brews, and if you're buying I'll take what ya got.

In Florida all beer has 4.6% alcohol by law. Drinking "Mystical Experience Cold Pale Blue Amber Octoberfest" for $62 a six pack is the same as "Pizzle Dizzle" at $2 a case. Myself, when I was drinking, I shot for volume and that is what gave me the "experience." Joe

Life is too short to drink cheap or generic beer. Or in my case, root beer.

I'm sorry, but even if it is half the price I'm not going to drink house brand garbage when there are better tasting options.

I don't even drink alcohol but I know enough that when my friends helped my move, I got them Herny Weinhard's, not Bud.

Henry's is my beer of choice. The only problem is once you leave Oregon and Washington you don't see it. When they made the old Biltz Weinhard I would only drink it if nothing else was available but Henry's is a different story!

Yeah, I knew I'd get some hackles up with my post, but I'm good with it.
See, I drink cheap beer and have no problem with folks making fun of me for it.
[Well, ya put enough alcohol in it, I might drink it, after all it can't be worse than Texas Pride (low end Pearl beer)!
If it was just about the buzz, you'd be standing on a corner drinking a forty of Colt .45 out of a paper bag.
So, you drove right past me without even stopping to say hello?
You'd love my house, Coors Light comes out of the faucets, hot or cold.
And your address is?

All kidding aside, my post was meant to be in jest, if I offended anyone then I apologize, heck, I'll lift a cheap one (or Ten) in your honor!:D

Numerous blind taste tests have proved that most drinkers can't tell beers apart if they don't know what they are drinking. Some years back, a bunch of us (usually over 20) used to drink beer and sometimes wine at the office late on Friday afternoons before we went home, and we started doing blind taste preference tests, using domestic beers, foreign beers, light beers, dark beers, etc. every week. It became apparent quickly there was nothing near a consensus on what was good or bad. In fact, the one beer that seemed to be the most liked was Schaeffer's.

But the world is full of beer snobs. On my first flight from Dallas to Frankfurt on Lufthansa (this was back in the early 1980s) I made it my goal to try every beer Lufthansa carried on board - and at that time they had all of the German beers and some that weren't. Most of them I did not like at all. As I remember there was only one beer that I liked, Stella Artois, I think. But I tried no American beers that trip.

I don't drink beer much these days. But when I do, it's usually whatever brand the supermarket has on sale. Stay thirsty my friend.

I do know guys that will drink "the good stuff" for the first few, then go to the less expensive stuff later on. I guess they figure than once they are halfway to hammered, they can't tell the difference.

I just don't understand some people. I see them get so drunk, that they can't remember what happened the night before. To me that's pretty frightening.

Gunslinger808,

SCHAEFER !!!
otherwise it CoorsLight, or PBR

Go Figure, really any port in the storm, Who's Buying?

Beer, a gift from the Gods

That being said What about premium Bourbon, Markers Mark, Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek, Buffalo Trace, Vs Four Roses, Evan Williams, Wild Turkey,Jim Beam. I can't tell much difference until I tried the 8-9 year old stuff, but really like the 12-18 year stuff bottled straight from the barrel uncut. smoother, better aroma, deeper flavor, just add ice. Mostly drink Jim Beam. I have a steak taste and a hamburger budget.

Most commercial beer is like making love in a canoe. You all know the rest. I prefer my homebrews. When I'm out and about, I ask for any local flavors.

I'm a PBR guy myself 90% of the time. If I want a really good tasting beer, I'll get a Killians Red, Blue Moon(Belgian Wheat), or an Alaskan Amber. I grew up on Hamms and Grain Belt. No accounting for taste.................:)

If this weren't such a well-mannered (or well-moderated) board, this thread could have gotten contentious. These days discussions about taste in beer are nearly as divisive as threads about tattoos.

As for me, I drink what I like, unless, as somebody else said, you're buying.

Well, you did ask about FAVORITES. If you want to taste what most American beer tasted like before prohabition try a "Anchor steam". The recipie hasn't changed since the 1890's.

P.S. I like Bud and PBR just fine too.

Your taste in Bourbon makes me wonder if you are from my parts of Kentucky. I live within 50 to 60 miles of your favorite distilleries.

I like to think it's the well mannered part of the equasion.;)

Fellas please:rolleyes: There is a time and place for everything. Having dinner in a resturant or on a special occasion or enjoying one or two at home, the premiums are indeed appropriate and a special treat and I am quite particular as to my preferences as well as the correct frosty glass within which to pour and from which to quaff. But when cutting the grass, grilling, fishing or at the camp-you're looking for cheap cold and plenty-what I call power drinking. And nothing fills the bill better for me than Busch Bavarian Beer :D Or Coors light, or Natty lite, or Schaefers lite. If you think I'm showing up at the camp with a case of Heisenpheffer extra malty abbey ale you're nutz!!! That's where the cheap stuff really shines :D
I sip and enjoy my Balvienie Double Cask-but for power drinking give me my Dewars-so everyone is right nobody and the world is a great place to be.......Kumbaya and all that.
