Coors

You guys laughed and made fun of me wit my Rolex thread and now, y'all snobbing about beer. Well as far as power drinking fishing beer you can't beat Schaefers light. Plus a case of it costs less than $10 and that's with 12oz cans. :D ANd I agree with Charlie and the others, good beer comes in many forms-let's see...there's COLD beer-never had a bad one of those....there's beer someone else paid for, again never had a bad one of those. Beer is a lot like conubial relations-some are better than others, but I've never had a bad one ;)

Beer with class...AND the official beer of the BROOKLYN DODGERS!!:D:D:D

Being of Greek descent (along with Scot and Welsh), I was brought up on the stuff, along with Metaxa brandy (my home island is Kefalonia) and my grandmother's wine.
Finlandia is wonderful stuff; being Greek Orthodox I can drink Jameson's and Bushmill's; I've been known to toast the bride many, many times.
Coors Banquet is the favorite in my house.

Well now, once upon a time, a loooong time ago I was stationed in Colorado Springs at Fort Carson. Ah, the memories. I was introduced to Coors and can tell you it sucks when it gets just a little warm. The true test of a good beer is what it tastes like warm. I can confirm this test from a years worth of scientific research in the testing fields of Viet Nam. Back then ice was a commodity and not to often seen and refrigeration was for sissy's. You could get a local beer cold but had to make sure you opened the bottle.:) Most of the time we got PBR's in 16 oz cans. Crack one open when you roll out of the rack and ready to go for the day. Used to drink Miller for a long time and now drink Rolling Rock. I buy the little ponys so the beer never gets warm.

For you people that think Coors is swill, but drink Keystone beer.
Maybe you should do a quick Google search of Keystone

Vic3620

I realize that. For some reason , my old body doesn't react to Keystone like it does Coors.

Quite frankly, the beer thing can be discussed from now on depending on what part of the country you live in. Funny what people get used to and think it is better than anything else anyone has or drinks.
When I drink beer it is usually Coors Light because regular Coors does give me a headache. Never had to drive anywhere to get it as it has always been in this part of the country.
I see where Budweiser is buying Modelo, Mexico. Don't know why.
We used to go bass fishing a lot years ago at several different places in Mexico and when we ran out of American beer we would just as soon as drink the lake water as the Mexican beer. I still feel that way. I know lots of people like the different Mexican beer, but not me.
Different strokes for different folks.
Give me a Coors Light.

I see where you're coming from. When I was starting the beer journey we drank Miller in the bottle. Then another friend was drinking Bud. in a can all of the time. (he wasn't the only one) I didn't like it and he challenged me to " The Budweiser 7 day Taste Test". I haven't liked Miller since.

Fast forward many years later and I went to Germany. Needless to say I don't like Bud. anymore and I still don't like Miller.

It is a Journey and just like with food our taste evolve.

Oh, I agree on the Mex. stuff. There's no hope when you have to fruit your beer.

Like others my recollection about the reason that Coors was not available in a lot of markets was because of the refrigeration issue--and that was because it was not pasteurized.

Went out west backpacking and fishing when I graduated HS--tried Coors and was underwhelmed.

I used to drink the European stuff before the microbrew thing started. After making beer myself I came to understand what a huge difference there is in really fresh, unpasteurized beer. If you want a European beer like that you have to go to Europe. I can't drink the Euro stuff anymore.

When I drink beer now I like something hoppy with a lot of flavor. That means a microbrew like Sweetwater (regional) or something like Sierra Nevada as an example.

One of my favorites is one I discovered in Michigan on my yearly bird hunt--Bell's Big Two Hearted.

For after yard work, bulk stuff etc. Bud's fine. I know it's heresy to some, but I don't drink beer when I fish. I'll probably get thrown out of Georgia for saying that.

Yeungling is also good, maybe the best of the non-microbrews. But it's gotten a lot more expensive as it's more gotten popular. They claim to be the oldest brewery in the country.

growing up in north dakota,we lived on pbr,old mil, schlitz, etc.we would pay our bootlegger 5.oo for a case of beer and and a pack of marlboro's.a bottle of blackberry brandy got us primed.anyone who came back from colorado with coors was a vip in our town.a small town in rural n dak getting a few cases of coors was big news.
forward 20 years and now i am managing a farm in southren idaho.2000 acres under contract to budwieser.1500 acres to coors for malting barley..there is a difference in beers.i talked to pete coors for 2 hours last year on the history of beer and why he thought they were the best.it was interesting.when i am in oregon henry wienhard is a big seller.i became an alcoholic at 18,and drank a case a day for 20 years.i quit drinking in 95 after 2 divorces,2 ruined familys, mostly because i was making desc ions based on when i was drunk,or getting drunk.nowadays.through the grace of god,i was able to stop drinking.but i am not a hypocrite like a lot of people who quit are.in fact ,i have beer in my fridge for some friends who come along, and want a beer or 2.my whole family are alcoholics.but its there choice.nowdays i am an expert on na beers, and there are not many choices.lol. douls is ok,but i drink at least a 12 pack a day of busch na .beer.if ice cold, its not bad to me.

twomoons:

If you want a NA beer that tastes like real beer, try St. Pauli Girl non alc. It may be kinda hard to find but it's worth the trouble.
