I'll spend the cash if I need to, but I have thousands of rounds of Thunderbolt, Rem Golden Bullet, Winchester HV, and Federal Bulk. Shot 300 rounds of Winchester HV, Federal Bulk, and Golden Bullet today in my M&P22. Golden Bullet had the best reliability, with 100%, but the other two were very good. Golden Bullet held slide open on empty mag every time, while the other two had issues with that. At 25 yards, shots from all three were hitting into the kill zone, say a 5 inch spread. I'll go for the CCI if I can get improvement, but wonder how much better it will be.

I switched to CCI several years ago. I have tried Thunderbolt, Winchester Super X and some other bulk rounds.

My initial reason for the switch was that my 22A wouldn't work reliably with the cheap stuff. FTE and FTF were very common. CCI worked 100% of the time and is very accurate for me.

CCI can be purchased anywhere from $6.49+, is available at any store that carries ammo and is very accurate in my 22's.

$6.49 for 50 rounds? That's pricey. I just shot 300 rounds today, and it took me less than an hour. Cost me less than 20 bucks. That's the beauty of the .22. It's cheap fun. AT CCi prices, that's would run me nearly 40 bucks.

CCI makes 10 or more different .22lrs. Which one are you referring to?

I bought CCI Blazer in 50 round boxes a few months ago for about $1.85 @ box delivered. It's been 100% reliable and accurate in several guns I've used it in.

Dennis.

I'm using CCI Mini Mag 40GR CPRN in 100 round plastic slide top boxes. I may have to try Blazer and save a little money.

for target and all around plinking I use cci blazers in my 22s. There accurate reliable and function in my guns. And when on sale i get a 525 round brick for $20. And I dont get missfires and low power loads as much as I do in other brands.

I've never owned a .22 that didn't like Winchester Super-X. That's my go to ammo for most shooting.
However, CCI makes about 20 different .22 LR loads and some of them are excellent. For pure target shooting Green Tag and Pistol Match are hard to beat. Take your pick of hunting loads, they have plenty.
When I hang my suppressor on either the rifle or pistol, my choice is the Standard Velocity. Both guns love this stuff and its even quieter than the sub-sonics.
CCI makes alot of different loads in all price ranges. Pick the one for your kind of shooting.

CCI Mini-Mags are very good stuff. The $6.49 price posted before is for 100 rounds but if your .22lr gun is not picky you can use any bulk ammo (lead or copper plated, round nose or hollow point), like Winchester, Blazer or Federal but will not recomdend Remington Thunderbolt, those are the worst .22rl ammo you can buy.

Blazer 525 box is what I'm shooting now, much better than the Federal value pack I used before.

while we're on the subject of CCI .22 ammo. Some time back i was reading an article regarding storage life of ammo. It mentioned that .22 ammo didn't store as long as centerfire ammo because over time the wax lube would melt and contaminate the powder charge. they recommended that if you wanted to stock up on rimfire ammo for emergencies that you went with CCI because suposedly the wax they used had a much higher melt point. Don't know how true it is but hey, it was on the internet so it should be true.

check out the CCI AR Tactical 22lr its priced mid-way between the blazer and the Mini-Mags my M&P22 runs great with them.

CCI Mini-Mag solids are the most reliable in all guns I have.
My Rugers are not picky, except for my SP-101 .22LR Old Model, in which cases stick when I shoot Hi-Vel ammo. My Walther P22 is picky and Remington bulk ammo was not very good in anything. YMMV!

Who needs to shoot more, but I haven't been able to take time off lately.

First, I say say try a couple of boxes, if it is reliable and performs better than what you are using, then that is your answer. I use a high end target pistol, and it performs well with the CCI SV. As to price, I buy CCI 22 LR SV by the case, 5000 rounds at about 5 cents per round. It comes in 50 round paper boxes. If you are interested in accuracy and reliability, that will help make your decision as to which ammo to buy, if you don't care then buy what ever works. Personally, I don't care about the bang, I care where the hole is.

That price is for the 100 round plastic boxes. The box adds about $2.00 to the price.

I have a Walther P22. It's a nice little gun for new shooters. It works 100% on MiniMags. It has about 4,000 rounds through it and has been miserable on bulk ammo from Winchester, Remington, and Federal.

CCI is worth the extra $ just to avoid the frustration.

I used to love the Federal Lightning bulk packs from Walmart for all around shooting. Now I mostly shoot Blazer bulk for general plinking and CCI SV for targets. CCI are available almost anywhere at anytime in my area. So far I have had no problems shooting CCI

I only use CCI High Velocity 40gr in my .22. I have a Ruger SR22 Rifle and would have lots of problems with other ammo. I have not had 1 single problem with the CCI in a few thousand rounds. Cost me $28 for a box of 375.

Now I use Cci mini mags exclusively for my 22A for reasons as outlined by JimNEB above. As far as I'm concerned, it's clearly the best choice and I'm done fooling around with the others.

I like and use Federal 22LR bulk pack ammo in my S&W revolvers and the standard velocity CCI in my S&W Model 41 because that's what it shoots the best.

Over the past fifteen or so years, I've tried many .22 ammos (excluding the expensive stuff) that I have used in a variety of handguns and rifles. CCI Standard Velocity is more accurate in more guns than any other .22 rimfire ammunition I've run across. It's all I buy now. Of course, it's possible to get a less accurate lot occasionally, but that can happen with any ammo.
