I was first attracted to this Ltd. Ed. Model 632 due to its similarity to my Model 625-8 performance Center 45acp. Both have the tapered shroud to the end of the barrel ( a look which I love). The shroud is open to both sides of the ejector rod ( another look that I love). Both have adjustable rear sights (which not only serve a function but also makes the revolver more pleasing to the eye).Basically the Model 632 looks like a miniature version of the Model 625-8. Furthermore the .327 Federal Magnum case is straight walled, which is important to me because I only reload straight walled cases, 45acp,45Colt and 45-70. So what's the problem? I hate the noise and how with every shot I instinctively close my eyes and possibly flinch. Now mind you I have a .460XVR and I expect instinctive responses to the beast being ignited. However this 632 is a .32 for Pete's sake and I'm responding like a new recruit every time I pull the trigger. I can shoot my .45acp and 45Colt revolver till the cows come home and nary a blink of the eye. So what gives?

As much as I hate the lock, I found the Model 632 so intriguing I had to buy one. The chambering is so versatile I bought a case of Federal 32 S&W Longs just to plink with the thing. Try some and you won't flinch.
This is one of the neatest revolvers S&W has ever produced.

I have one of the early 632 Pro (black). I have set up for reloading to use 32 H&R Mag. loaded at mid levels. No flinching at all.

I only use 327 Federal for carry. And for limited practice.

As sweet as the .327/.32H&R is.....
I believe it is beginning to fall by the wayside...
Very underrated in my opinion......

Ozo, you certainly caught the .327 bug. I just wonder how much longer the Mod.632 will be around. Weren't there rumors that S&W was soon to discontinue production of this little beast due to general lack of interest?

I feel your pain. I don't like to going to one certain range because the firing line is just aprons of concrete. The report of any firearm makes a tinny echoing sound I find unplesant to my ears. And like you, my shooting suffers.

As a reloader, can you change powders or their measured weight(s), or the bullets? I loaded both Alcan AL8 and A/A #5 in my .44 Magnums, and one of them became a different gun.

It's such a nice revolver it would seem customizing a load might be a way to keep it.

Yes Tourist I will definitely keep it. I have ordered some Smith&Wesson long rounds as previously suggested by other members. Also it's comforting to know that you can shoot 4 cartridges in the Model632: .327Federal Magnum,.32 H&R magnum, S&W long and S&W short. So the Mod.632 certainly is versatile. I just can't help but wonder whether that top ported barrel accounts for so much of the noise being directed at the shooter.

I like the cartridge, but I hate the ported barrel. There is no reason for this gun to require a ported barrel. If it would have been brought out in a 2 1/2" non ported barrel it would have sold much better. If they would have made a K Frame 327 (?16-5?) it would have also sold.

You mean like this M632-2?

I agree on the K and that's one gun that I would get in
line for, like the -2 above, which I waited 18 months for.

They are an attractive prospect but in my opinion, unnecessary.
Then again I don't mind the .357's recoil in a steel frame J like the 640 Pro.
I don't mean any disrespect, but it would be a good gun for my girlfriend who likes the feel of the J but not the recoil.

One thing I like about our M632-1 & -2 is that you get one
"extra" round, when compared to a .38 / .357 mag J Frame.

Georgia Arms made/makes some nice .32long rounds
that look like XTP projectiles. I friend at the range gave me a handful.
Georgia Arms - .32 S & W LONG

Fiocchi makes .32long wadcutters 100gr

I load mine and probably wouldn't have as many guns to shoot .32's
if I didn't. The ammo is pricey, and MamaOzo and I shoot a lot of
rounds....and we are retired, so loading them really helps the wallet.
But it was all part of the plan, from the beginning. I load H&R's with
Berry's plated wadcutters, and we carry .327's for SD.
I am not recoil sensitive, and neither is MamaOzo......but these
.327's and .32H&R's are a wonderful round for these times, with all
the new people shooting, very versatile. Your girlfriend can learn,
on a safe revolver, without recoil[H&R's or .32long's], and you can shoot the hot .327 FedMag's.....I don't know why it didn't take off
better than it did....I've heard all the stories, and I still don't get it.
Taurus stopped the M327 and CDNN bought them all, selling for $229
Smith is still making the Black 632 3" Pro and the 2" can be found,
Ruger still makes the GP and the SP in .327 but who knows for how
much longer any of them will continue.
I like 'em......a bunch....they are my current favorites....and I am
just really starting to experiment with .327 rounds, although the
H&R's have been super the last couple years.
I would really like a Golden Boy .327

Yeah, Carl....
I've got it all over me..:):cool:

The only consolation I see, for me, of the lack of
interest for these .32's is people will get rid of them
because of the ammo situation, and there will be a
bunch of used ones for sale cheap......if there is ever
to be cheap guns anymore. All mine were bought new
but I have seen a couple used at shows.....and the
ammo price is a good negotiator for the gun price.

Ammo is no problem, I am happy where I am set for it.
I've always mostly been a .357/.44mag/.45colt SA
kinda guy.....but these .32's are overwhelmingly fun.
Two or three always go to the range with us,
no matter what else we plan to shoot.
Speaking of SA, the Ruger Blackhawk with .327mag's
is almost like shooting .22's but hot and flat and
accurate.....and 8 rounds !

The port doesn't seem to allow any more noise on ours than any of the others we have without porting.....the .327 is just hot...and the pressure is squeezed into the .32 opening, as opposed to a
.44magnum so to speak. Look at the pressures these .327's have.

My search for the .32short has been.....they are rare....
and they are pricey.
But the .32long is so mild, there is no need to have shorts.

I wish you were standing here, I would put some of the H&R's
I load in your hand.....and all you would do after sending them downwind.......is smile at me with your hand out for some more.....and I would. :D

I managed to trade into one the other day. It is a cute little thing and I hope to find some decent wood grips for it so I can shoot it!

Tek,
Try the factory Model 60 pro grips, these are the most comfortable wood J frame grips I've ever experienced. These grips and the addition of a red insert for the front sight are the only modifications I made to my 632. It has become one of my favorite revolvers.
