Hi Guys: First time posting a question to the forum. Recently bought a used M&P in .45 acp in excellent shape. I was rooting thru the ammo room ( Im a reloader) and found a box of Super Vels (like new) They are about 35 yrs old and in excellent shape. OK to send some thru the tube? Anybody know how the old Super Vels stack up against the newer SD stuff out there like Zombies? Thanks for your help, mutt

Hang on to the Super Vels...They are ok to shoot but more valuble as a collector's item. I have several empty boxes of Super Vels and wish I had some of the long out of production bullets. A collector will buy them if you don't want them.

Super Vels were the first high-performance ammunition on the market, brainchild of a guy named Lee Jurras - loaded to higher velocities with lighter expanding bullets. Up to that time, most handgun cartridge offerings were FMJ and lead bullets at moderate velocities. SV forced the big three to come up with competing ammunition. There is some collectible value to full boxes of Super Vel in good condition, and I would not shoot them for that reason. But they would be OK to shoot otherwise.

DWalt is very right ......the collector value far exceeds the value of sending them downrange.....

Do a little on line searching on SuperVel Ammo and you will see what we are talking about. Last box I saw sold for $50.00 for .38 SPL!!

Should be ok to shoot provided proper storage, cool temperature, no floods, etc. :)

Thanks to the responders. Unfortunately dont have original box for the ammo, so will likely hold onto them as a"collector" item for my self. As far as feeding the M&P will stick with the Zombies. Thanks again, mutt
