Saw a snub 66 and a .308 Sniper rifle on the table.

I've been looking for those.

$100 food card for handguns and long guns and $200 for the dreaded 'black guns'. Wrong place at the wrong time.

L.A. Gun Buy-Back / ABC News

Just watched ABC News proud coverage of a Los Angeles Gun Buy-Back program. Showed many (reported as 'hundreds') of cars stretched around a few blocks as they queued in line for the program. Any handgun would net a $100 gift card.

Then they panned into a diagonally positioned plastic trash tub as handguns were being tossed into it.
I paused my DVR there and saw about 4 or 5 older Smith 'K' frames, one K38 with Herrett grips on it. Saw another older nickel M&P with old style magnas on it.
On the edge, a Luger with the distinctive toggle locked open.
The last gun they showed literally THROWN in the bin was what appeared to be a 4" blued Colt Python!
The reporter was obviously thrilled to report how pleased the owners were to 'get rid' of the guns and that they would ALL be destroyed.

This is, of course nothing more than a 'feel good' move timed to extract as much emotional bankroll as possible.

I feel nauseous.........

if they want an effective buy back program they should offer higher than current prices PLUS whatever additional incentive they want to throw in
if people were being offered 1000 bucks for their m66 or whatever only the truly dedicated gun owners would be able to resist..
i might even melt my para for 1000....no?...do i hear a 950 lol
this is just a casual observation and certainly not a reflection of my politics..so you arent gonna need that rope. haha

Would it be safe to say that some of those guns were brought there without the gun owners knowledge? Meaning say a gun owner has a family member who is anti-gun who took some or all of their guns to this "recycling" program while that gun owner was let's say away on a Navy ship for a few months......to come home to fewer guns than they left home with? Is it safe to say that the guns are brought there by those who no little to nothing about them....what happens when said gun gets thrown into that bin and goes BANG.....shooting a bystander?

Sad......

The Old American Republic replaced by a new American Democracy...a place where there is an illusion of freedom and yearning not to self determine, but to be led by the bull ring by a government "that knows best".

How tragic.

We've got one coming up that pays$200 for working handgun/longgun and $300 for assault rifle. Wish i had some Jennings or Raven .25s.

One of the police types appeared saying that the guns would be checked to see if they are stolen and if so would be returned to the rightful owners..... uh, I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

Those who give up an heirloom or a high dollar safe queen firearm for a few pennies didn't deserve to have that firearm in the first place. In my book, they are mere sheep and are probably better off without the weapon. They give up one of their basic liberties far too easily and far too cheaply...that should scare everybody and shows just which side they will be on when the time comes.
I find it sickening to see some of the firearms that go off to the melter in one of these "buyback" programs. I do NOT feel the least bit sorry for the people that do this: they made their decision.

The media is trying to create momentum for Congressional action on a "Buy-Back" law which requires citizens to "turn their guns in and be fairly compensated".

I saw the report, and the reporter was about to wet herself with excitement.

I knew a man in the 60s that hated guns and didn't want one in his house. One night he was afraid to go to work because of a little disturbance and he paid double for a pistol and 12 shells. On top of the price he couldn't stand the seller but he was the only person that had one to sell. I wonder if any of the people turning in guns will ever wish they had them back. Larry

If you have some extra $$$ on hand, here is an idea for you. Go buy all the new/used Hi Point guns you can for well under $200 then turn the lot in for $200 a pop. Ok back to reality. LOL

Fools lined up to give away liberties.
Or as some have said, most we're probably hot to begin with.

Chuck

Their house gets broken into by a madman with a firearm, the homeowner reaches for that shotgun in the corner and, oh yeah, I remember, I turned it in at the buy-back. Oh shucks, I screwed up. If only.
