LA Gun Buyback....Darn

I would guess most were stolen as any owner with any sense at all would keep them. Jeff

And the most shameful part is that the authorities do not check the serial numbers to return the stolen property to the rightful owners: they all get destroyed - even awesome collectibles with tremendous historic and monetary value.

Wonder if one could hold the municipality/officials responsible for "receiving stolen goods"? That is a serious crime and no one should be above the law.

I often wonder how much of this is staged. Run down to the property room and grab some guns already slated for destruction to make it look more successful than it actually is.
Remember folks, right now we are seeing a full court press by the anti gun media trying to make it seem that America has suddenly become anti gun.

I was thinking the same thing. I would be that anti-gun groups and possibly our own government are supplying the guns for the buybacks. Guns captured in drug raids or whatever. They just showed a gun buyback clip on HLN and there was a huge pile of AR15s. C'mon... how many people are going to turn those in in one city? It looked like the majority of the guns turned in were of those types. Did not see many wooden stock guns.

Would it be safe to say that some of those guns were brought there without the gun owners knowledge? Meaning say a gun owner has a family member who is anti-gun who took some or all of their guns to this "recycling" program while that gun owner was let's say away on a Navy ship for a few months......to come home to fewer guns than they left home with? Is it safe to say that the guns are brought there by those who no little to nothing about them....what happens when said gun gets thrown into that bin and goes BANG.....shooting a bystander?

Let's be honest here. Gun buy backs are nothing other than authorities turning a blind eye to theft. That's why they say no questions asked. The "law" is encouraging theft to further a political agenda.
