NYS to Introduce the Toughest Gun Control Laws

NYS already has some of the toughest guns laws in the US and look what happened today near Rochester. Two Firefighters killed and several wounded by a CONVICTED FELON, who had done time for murdering his grandmother. So just where o where did he get his guns from?

To me this is a dilemma. I love where I live, I have a nice piece of land, property taxes are cheap, very compared to local towns and cities. I pay less in both property and school taxes then most places pay for one or the other. My family settled towns in the Adirondacks and has been in one spot or another since the early 1800's but my family has been here since 1637. I am not about to run. I am sick and tired of giving in and conceding, damn it I think instead of good people having to run off and find somewhere's else there should be a grassroots campaign to take back both the house and the senate of NY. Some northern Democrats in these pretty rural counties and towns have some tough decisions to make, these areas are full of hunters and gun owners and unless they want to be out on their tails they better think really hard before they vote with Cuomo on this one. I know there is already a move to get up some resistance on this and a lot of downstate gun owners are already having their say, and that is in those Democrat counties. Another thing getting some traction, not sure if it would ever fly is to secede part of NY into another state. I have heard a lot of this one in the last couple of years and people are tired of letting NYC and the legislators that come from there running this state. I am not about to run, I have a lot of memories and family here, and I have worked very hard to have the land where I can hunt and where we can raise my son, and if I have to be the last man standing against the tyranny than so be it. I am not running from these people, not now and not ever.

Don't forget Colorado, open carry state, for CCW it is a will issue state, lots of places to shoot and great hunting.

For all his bellyaching and his $25 billion dollars , why isn't Mr. Bloomberg forking over a billion or two to fund buy-back programs if he feels so strongly.

I imagine all sorts of politicians will be falling all over themselves to be "tough on guns". Just another check mark next to "tough on crime" to help get them re-elected. Or push their personal agenda.

The State of New York has no idea who owns what in terms of long guns, so good luck rounding them up. And for all of their "strictest gun laws in the nation" I know plenty of people who own guns that they shouldn't, including cops. These laws are pointless and unenforceable. As long as you're smart enough to shut up about what you own in certain company you have nothing to worry about.

But with all that said I pray to God I can get out of here some day.

Chicago and Illinois in general have had some of the toughest gun laws
for a long time.

Yet they have had 500 murders so far this year. This should be a good response against those pushing for more gun laws but unfortunately it won't be used.

Left the hole known as NYS many years ago...other than "F2" (Family and Funerals) I'll never go back.

Last time I was there was in 2003, and just recently washed the stink off.

I left NY State in 2005. What a relief that I'm not still there! From all aspects: taxes, costs, political ethics, Liberal stronghold, you name it! Then there is the gun laws. As I see it NY'ers are screwed. Both houses in the legislature Dem. controlled and the Guv. screaming for confiscation. Not sure how you are going to fight that. Better get in bed with the NRA right away and help with the legal fight. Give 'em lots of money! It's going to take it. All the gun orgs. in NY should work through a united front. Best of luck.

Rabbit Rule

My fellow Americans, if this happens I WILL move to a free state like Texas or Florida. I thought I would never see the light of day in which the government could potentially sponsor a gun buy back program.

You liberal politicians are destructive to the cause of Liberty.

Andrew Cuomo pushing hard for a breakthrough in adopting the toughest gun controls in the nation - NY Daily News

Aw shucks. I thought New Yorkers knew the rabbit rule. (1) Travel in a group of rabbits. (2) When the fox comes you do not need to outrun him, just outrun the other rabbits. Fox always gets the last rabbit.

I hope The People's Republic of California doesn't decide to get into a contest with New York. California is now a one party state. The Governor and both houses of the State Legislature are controlled by the anti-gun party, and that ain't good.

Yup, pretty soon the only way anyone in California will get a gun permit will be if he is a bodyguard for the rich. Or maybe out in the forest protecting mountain lions.
More like Old England every day.

Correct but they do know what we have for handguns and being Cuomo wants to introduce a 7 round capacity, that would make all my pistols and one revolver illegal and I'm not giving him anything! I will move before I give this a hole my guns!

Have any of you in NY hold off from buying firearms due to what may come? I have my eye on a couple but I'm going to wait and see what they are going to do first. No since on buying something only to find out it will be illegal. For all those who do not live in NY, these politicians have a lot of power in this state and pretty much do what they please and can get away with it. The only thing that will stop any more BS laws here in this state is conservative democrats. Republicans really do not have much pull as they used to. Another is that even though republicans still control the state senate, many of them on there are democrats in GOP clothing. We call them the "old school" GOP which tend to believe that "assault weapons" are not needed. They believe you should be able to own shotguns and bolt action rifles so this is what NY gun owners are faced with both from the democratic side and the republican side.

Democrats love every town in America look like the section between Water Street and E. Clinton in Binghamton, I mean folks in that ghost house (right before the railway) probably use Cocaine, guns and other illegal items all the time, Democrats don't care!

Folks in other part of the country rarely commit any crime with their AR-15s, and democrats hate that!!! NYS deserve to go to hell!

At least our county is pretty good when it comes to firearms. The permit office are all nice people and are pro-gun. Like I tell other NY citizens, I'm not too worried what will happen at the federal level, I'm worried about the state level since it is much easier for them to do what they want hence long gun permits in NYC and the pistol permit process through the rest of the state.
