Welcome Rudy, have fun dressing her up - but more fun shooting her!

I'm thinking of ordering the timely trigger as my first mod.

Ahhh, so much better then a 10-22.
Triggers a whole nother subject.
Welcome.

Welcome to the club. Do you mean Timney trigger? Are you going to use it for competition or something? Maybe shoot it first and see if you still think it needs a new trigger. The stock trigger is fine for my purposes, although I admit I just use it for plinking at the local silhouette range.

There are a lot of other rifle accessories you could get for the $220+ it would cost for just the trigger.

If you're thinking of decking it out in Magpul FDE, then I had the exact same thought as you. As with triggers, I wouldn't bother unless you need to be doing some serious rapid fire, the only problem with mine is the creep.

Whoa I didn't know it was $220 !!!

Never-mind then lol .. I just spent $200 on my fulcrum glock trigger so I can't justify another $200 trigger !!!

As for the magpul stuff -- what's a good source ? I want the tan handguard, buttstock and grip.

Rudy40,

You have many choices to locate and put on the hardware you desire....most, if not all is AR-15 compatible.!!
You can find tons of accessories for sale on multiple websites... such as Amazon. They carry most of the furniture your looking for.!!!! Most local gunshops carry Magpul...mine does... Gunshows are probably the best source... they will have a lot of variety...and options to go over... Look at magpuls website....they have multile stock options... I am NOT a big fan of the plain MOE stock... I prefer the CTR and ACS stocks....and found out there are 2 new models to look into....

just run a search...

HTH,
Paul

I recommend Midwayusa, Amazon, and Brownells for buying accessories. Grats on finding one of them rifles they seem to be pretty rare.

I checked in at my local gun shop frequently, but all I ended up getting from him were the rail covers. I recommend eBay for good prices on Magpul gear if you don't mind it used. All I would watch out for there is Magpul airsoft stuff and Chinese knockoffs. Other than that; happy hunting, and welcome to the club.

Okay guys 2 questions ...

First off I got and put on a magpul MOE pistol grip today ...

Second -- do they make tan / sand rail covers ? I saw a magpul forend in my LGS but was told it wouldn't fit ..

and where the hell can I get some mags ??? I can't even find any for back order ... ughhh

as mentioned earlier, amazon has them. you mean the handguards? yeah, the handguard won't fit your rifle as-is. with modification, i have it on my 15-22.

on amazon, here are some FDE rail covers. there are a bunch more styles available:

Amazon.com: Magpul XTM Rail Panels, Flat Dark Earth: Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: Magpul XT Rail Texture Panel, Flat Dark Earth: Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: Magpul Ladder Rail Protector, Flat Dark Earth: Sports & Outdoors

Amazon.com: Pack Of 4 Heat Resistant Tan Dark Earth 18 Slot 7 Inch Ladder AR-15 AR15 AK-47 M4 M16 Rifle Handguard Weaver Picatinny Rail Covers: Sports & Outdoors

sound wave pretty much summed it up, as with mags, I checked my supplier that recently listed 100+ mags in stock and they now list them as out of stock. If I were you, I would check my local sporting goods stores and gun shops. Keep in mind, due to the holidays and the recent mag buying panic, prices in some places are raising dramatically. If you can't find mags for a good price, I would contact S&W directly or wait out the panic.
